Episode summaries[edit]

I'm starting the work on the summaries for episodes 1-17, however the process is going to take a while. I'm not being as concise as I would like to be with these episodes so far, so someone may like to copyedit them in order to shorten them. Hopefully as the background is laid down for the first few episodes, the summaries will become a little shorter. --Farix (Talk) 22:19, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also think I should give a few notes about the character naming conventions I'm using. For most of the characters, I will only use their given names after they are first mentioned. The only exception is Tadase Hotori. The reason for this is because the other character always refer to each other by their givens, but use Hotori's family name when referring to him. --Farix (Talk) 22:29, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I should also add Yuu Nikaidou to the list of going by SN, since he is an adult and Amu's homeroom teacher. --Farix (Talk) 04:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There has been another IP editor adding episode summaries to the list. While I appreciate the effort, I do wish the editor add more body to their summaries and make them complete. Otherwise, I'm having to rewrite them from scratch. In some ways, it's better to be a bit too detailed and the details rewriten and trimmed to be more concise then to include no details at all. --Farix (Talk) 16:24, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's about as far as I can take the summaries for now until more fansubs come out. They are currently three weeks behind. *sigh* --Farix (Talk) 01:25, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Episode title source?[edit]

Just were are the future episode titles coming from? I can understand knowing the next unaired title because it is given in the preview of the current. But what about episodes two or three weeks out? TV Tokyo's website doesn't appear to give titles past the previously aired episodes and the official website doesn't list episode titles past episode 16 on the story section and the current episode title—posted yesterday—on the blog. --Farix (Talk) 15:24, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but I cannot write English fluently. I think most early page is Wikipedia Japanese page, secondly Nakayoshi. I always edit because I trust Japanese page. --Yakuchang (talk) 23:36, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But just what is the Japanese Wikipedia's source? And does nakayosi-net.com meet the reliable source criteria? Verifiability and using reliable sources are two fundamental cornerstones of the English Wikipedia. --Farix (Talk) 23:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I get some from Newtype's website when they update, every three or four weeks or so, but they currently have only to 22, so I wonder where 23 and 24 come from as well. TangentCube, Dialogues 05:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, nakayosi-net.com seems to be owned by Kodansha Ltd., so it's probably legit. (I just noticed that 23 and 24 had titles there, so I'm inclined to trust them.) TangentCube, Dialogues 05:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And more episode titles have been added, but they don't appear to present on any of the official websites. And just where did the information come from about writers and directors of the unaired episodes? Even the official sites don't list them and that information, so far, has usually been pulled from the credits as each episode is aired. Unfortunately, the Japanese Wiki never lists their sources, which makes it impossible to verify any information that comes from them. --Farix (Talk) 11:38, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Went Googling for one of those titles and found this; apparently Newtype changed their format, or something. Not that it's a bad thing; before, they would take down the pages completely after the updates, which doesn't look like it'll happen now. Writer/director are still in question, but at least we have the titles. TangentCube, Dialogues 12:29, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that, didn't read the last line of the descriptions. TangentCube, Dialogues 12:39, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know I'm being a hard ass over sources. But I like to keep this list well sourced at all times. After all, the information has to come from somewhere, so why not tell everyone where it came from? --Farix (Talk) 13:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I asked Japanese Wikipedians where the sources come from. 水芭蕉 10:06, 14 March (UTC) says: This is an example to the last, but I look into the magazine "Nakayoshi", Kodansha Ltd., which "Shugo Chara!" is published serially in, and copy it. I think Japanese editors not use Net but Magazine. -Yakuchang (talk) 06:52, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Summary for episode 33[edit]

Over the last couple of days, IP editors have been adding a plot summary for episode 33, "Can't Help Falling in Love!". The problem is that this episode will not air in Japan until next weekend on March 24, so there is no way to verify the plot of the episode. --Farix (Talk) 12:10, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting summaries[edit]

I'm going to make a second attempt at copyediting the summaries down to around 250 words as well as look at condensing them down into one paragraph. So far I've completed the first 10 episode. This is still above the 100-200 word range recommended by WP:MOSTV. --Farix (Talk) 11:48, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After looking at other FL articles, I learned that the plot summaries here are much longer then the summaries on those. One of the goals I'm aiming for is for this article to become a FL as soon as the series is over. However, with the current length of the summaries, that will be difficult. I'm going to have to look into rewriting all of the summaries, as opposed to editing them down, in order to reasonable summary length. I'm going to leave 200 words as a hard limit, but target summaries for 100 to 150 words. One benifit from this is that I get to rewatch the series from the beginning again. --Farix (Talk) 20:01, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shugo Chara!! Doki— episode count[edit]

Does anyone have any idea as to Shugo Chara!! Doki— episode count will be? If it is going to run for 26 or more episodes, then we should look at creating a separate list for the second series. --Farix (Talk) 15:00, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Order of preference for episode titles[edit]

What source should we use for the definitive version of the Japanese titles? For instance, the episode preview for #52 and TV Tokyo's list use めいいっぱい, with two i kana, but the episode title card and the list currently on the Nakayoshi website use めいっぱい, with one i kana. —tan³ tx 03:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of ep52-55, I referred to nakayosi-net basically. However, the ep52 title which was really televised was "めいいっぱい" and the site of TV Tokyo is also said that. I'm very sorry for having forgotten to put an explanatory note. Perhaps two or three days later, titles and staffs will be also announced in Anime Newtype Channel. --Yakuchang....(talk) 11:01, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See, that's the thing; the version of episode 52 I saw had just the one い: compare this shot from episode 51 with this one from 52 (large filesize warning, just in case). —tan³ tx 23:04, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! That's amazing! Actually, correct Japanese spelling is 「めいっぱい」with the one い, but lots of Japanese people use wrong spelling with two i kana which is derived by tongue. I think we should use "めいっぱい" with one i because this title is used by the latest version. --Yakuchang....(talk) 00:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

To keep the list to a manageable size, I have split off Shugo Chara!! Doki— into its own list article. --Farix (Talk) 11:54, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missing section: DVD releases[edit]

Should a section the the DVD release of the episodes be added to the list in order to help it reach FL. I would also recommend that the summaries go through another once over for copyediting and consistency that would bar a successful FL nomination. --Farix (Talk) 01:13, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
