Should better be sorted by first name

Sorry for my English, I'm from Germany. Most people in the Novels are usually only called by first name, while the last name is usually fairly mentioned, and often forgotten by the reader. It is senseless to sort the list by the latter one. --84.58.51.41 (talk) 12:20, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I agree. Last names may be mentioned once,or twice so that as a search requirement is futile. 2603:7080:833B:5E73:EC94:4625:7B95:613C (talk) 21:55, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Liandrin's surname

Does anyone happen to know where in the books Liandrin's surname is mentioned? I have seen her last name mentioned many places, but I don't recall seeing it in the books. Is there a non-canonical source that her surname comes from? Kaiserkarl13 (talk) 21:45, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

A lot of spoilers here

Please remove all spoilers!!! I came for some character name inspirations. I'm almost done with the first book and I accidentally found out about some of the characters' deaths because of this page 79.100.224.203 (talk) 17:54, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not block spoilers. See Wikipedia's policy on spoilers for more information. Caidh (talk) 12:29, 15 March 2022 (UTC)

Aram

Aram, the tinker who takes up the sword, appears missing from this list (didn't come up when I searched his name), yet characters much less significant than he are included. 49.2.14.186 (talk) 12:50, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Good catch! I added him, though feel free to edit it. I tried not to make it too long to match other tertiary characters. Caidh (talk) 20:46, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Character pages

Why were the individual character pages redirected to this one? This is a really obnoxious and preposterous act. So not fair. Why not delete everything related to the series itself? Penpaperpencil (Talk) 11:23, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

I'm not the one that removed them (and probably wouldn't have myself) but the rationale for removing them does make sense. Wikipedia isn't meant to be an exhaustive reference for every character (there are fan sites/wikis for that). The wiki pages are supposed to be brief, especially when there aren't a lot of reliable secondary sources for the series to site. Caidh (talk) 13:26, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
With that rationale, many the character pages for many novels should be deleted. Penpaperpencil (Talk) 15:41, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
Gotta agree that it's a bit silly; the books have sold more than the Game of Thrones without a TV series to back them up. There should at least be a paragraph for the main POV characters. Why was such a major change not even discussed on the relevant talk pages? The changes need to be reverted and a proper discussion should take place. Sammy680 (talk) 13:08, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I think there should be an in-between personally. Main characters (Rand, Mat, Egwene, Moiraine, etc.) should have their own pages. Secondary characters perhaps could have a grouped page (perhaps an "Antagonists in the Wheel of Time" page?). The pages are far too brief now actually. We definitely shouldn't go too far in the other direction though (secondary/tertiary characters with their own pages). Caidh (talk) 13:31, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I completely agree, tertiary and maybe even secondary characters shouldn't get individual plages. But the deletion of pages for the main character is rather a bad move especially since the page is now extremely parse and devoid of any information. There's no information here anymore. I've revived the list, with citations.— TAnthonyTalk 19:39, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Asha'man

(also posted to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Fictional characters#No description)

Asha'man redirects here, but is not defined here. It occurs 31 times on the page, but always in the description of a character, never in the name. It appears to be used of persons with a certain ability, not described here. E.g.

Damer Flinn: One of the oldest Asha'man, the first to be tested for the ability. Bonded as a Warder to Corele Hovian.
