table format would be best.[edit]

At some point we will need to change this to a table format which I feel will be able to present the data better with statistics for each coach and manager. Govvy (talk) 22:21, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Top 10 managers of the last century[edit]

With both Harry and Martin appearing in this list the heading is no longer correct. Solution would either be to make it all time or if there is an issue about the accuracy / comparably of the stats for the period 1882-1901 then say 'since 1901' or 'last 100 years' etc. Tmol42 (talk) 00:50, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keith Burkinshaw is missing from the list of top 20 managers, surely his name should be up there somewhere? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.232.176.62 (talkcontribs) 04:39, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

manager records[edit]

For years, there was indicated the percentage of won league games (wich is much fairer to compare), and now, as Tim sherwood was sacked with leading this list with 59.1% won league games, even being better than Frank Bretell... It was suddenly changed into the percentage of all won games... This seems to be made on purpose. And its unusual and unfair, sherwood had no chance to play the easy european and national cup games like Villa boas ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.0.81.191 (talk) 14:10, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Games Under Poch[edit]

By my count (and Wikipedia's if you go to each season's page) Poch has managed a total of 136 games as of December 29, 2013 (winning 68, exactly half), so I'm not sure how the number of 139 as of October 2, 2016 was arrived at, unless friendlies were included. 1987[edit]

  • Pleat to matchday 12
  • Hartley on matchday 13
  • Livermore matchdays 14 to 17
  • Venables from matchday 18

The table here is too complicated to make adjustments in a wiki (supposedly Hawaiian for "fast") sense. Also the pages of the respective coaches should be adjusted. Statistics provided by me based on Times and Telegraph. Oalexander (talk) 11:50, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure what you want to do exactly, maybe you could try and explain what you wanted? Govvy (talk) 12:11, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As is, it could be interpreted that Hartley and Livermore operated in tandem; Livermore should have the same format like Hartley, with his own flag in front of him. Oalexander (talk) 08:00, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to make a change from joint caretakers, then you need to provide a source. I don't know if they operated in tandem, but that information has been in wikipedia for years (since the article's creation and in the main club article before that) and has been copied to many other places. Can you link to the Telegraph and Times articles?   Jts1882 | talk  11:41, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
However, the two sources (inline and external link) given in the article both support your position. Given one is at the club, I agree your change should be made. The Doug Livermore page also needs updating to follow the club titles.  Jts1882 | talk
@Jts1882: I suppose, you handle this as you feel like, as I do not intend undertake any further action in the wider context. Interestingly, Osvaldo Ardiles in his autobiography claims that he was caretaker manager in this period; he was only caretaker-coach. Cheers, Oalexander (talk) 08:29, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
