CUFOS?

Where's CUFOS? -174.114.28.136 (talk) 04:58, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Rules?

We need to establish some rules for what types of UFO organizations can be listed here, what types of UFO organizations should get their own pages, etc. Do we want this to be a comprehensive guide to past and present UFO organizations or just a list of the "well known" ones, only active ones, or what? I wouldn't want anymore time and research to be wasted. -SeanFromIT 15:45, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Both active and inactive (must include references if no wiki-article or website on them is available) can be included here, and if the list gets to big for an country, we can create a separate wiki-article just for that country (:O) -Nima Baghaei talk · cont · email 15:30, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Non-linked/Non-referenced

Any non-linked and non-referenced organizations have been moved here (look below) until someone can show these organizations did/do exist (:O) -Nima Baghaei talk · cont · email 15:58, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

* [[MidOhio Research Associates]] (MORA)
* [[Australian International UFO Flying Saucer Research]] (AIUFOFSR)

===== Germany =====

* CENAP ([[Centrales Erforschungsnetz außergewöhnlicher Himmelsphänomene]] (Central network for the investigation of extraordinary aerial phenomena, est. 1976)
* DUIST ([[Deutsche UFO/IFO-Studiengesellschaft]] e.V. (German UFO/IFO study group), est. 1956)
* GEP ([[Gesellschaft zur Erforschung des UFO-Phänomens]] e. V. (Society for the investigation of the UFO phenomenon), est. 1972)
* [[Gesellschaft für Anomalistik]] e.V. (Society for Anomalistics), est. 1999
* GWUP ([[Gesellschaft zur wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung von Parawissenschaften]] e.V. (Society für scientific investigation of parasciences), est. 1987) - German sceptic organization
* Gesellschaft zur Untersuchung von anomalen atmosphärischen und Radar-Erscheinungen, [[MUFON-CES]] e.V. (Society for the Scientific Investigation of Anomalous Atmospheric and Radar Phenomena - MUFON-CES Inc.), est. 1974 (German-speaking MUFON section)
  • MORA was referenced - Winter 2006 MUFON of Ohio Newsletter. Despite my contest, the article about the group was removed (twice). According to Bill Jones, Director of MUFON of Ohio, the group was a precursor of MUFON of Ohio - i.e. it influenced MUFON of Ohio. I consider this fact worthy enough of mention, but other Wikipedians disagree. Perhaps it should be merged into the MUFON page (which needs to have sections about each state chapter added anyways). —Preceding unsigned comment added by SeanFromIT (talkcontribs)
  • Merging it into MUFON page sounds good... I actually want to add it here to but we need a reference we can cite and/or a link; does mufon have a link to that news letter? If so lets add this one back onto the list with that reference, if not, do you know the specific information from that newletter so we can cite it? • I am thinking about an UFO-related group/club from Thailand "กลุ่มประสานงานเพื่อการเตือนภัย(เขากะลา)" (www.ufokaokala.com), not sure about its English name, but it is also called "Kaokala Group", "UFO Kaokala", or "UFO Kaokala Disaster Warning International". --Love Krittaya (talk) 10:22, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

A mass edit by this editor SEE[1] under the conditions that the web links were Spam, is in fact incorrect. This page and the links are covered by the title/name of this Wiki page, it is a "List of UFO organizations" and this is covered in WP:ELYES under "What should be linked" & "Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site, if any". User: Otolemur crassicaudatus has been asked to revert due to WP:ELYES [2] this would be a WP:AGF response. Vufors (talk) 12:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I will stand by my deletion of the name of the organizations. You can certainly bring them back only if you can find the respective organizations have coverage in third party reliable sources. Also the empty sections you added should be deleted because when an editor feels he can add new names to the article, he can certainly start the new sections. But an article should not contain empty sections. Relevant external links can certainly be included in an article in the external link section, but an article itself is not a mere collection of external links. It will be a help if you remove the empty sections. If you like to add the links back, go ahead. I don't own the article, so no one is stopping you from editing this article as you wish. If you disagree, try WP:Third opinion. BTW, I am planning to report you to ANI due to your misinterpretation of policies and my action. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 14:27, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Otolomeur's assessment here, those links were inappropriate per WP:NOTLINK. This is a list of UFO organizations, not a List of links to UFO organizations websites. Links to specific organizations belong on their respective articles. The only external links that belong on this page are those that describe UFO organizations in general, or perhaps if it is a more extensive link repository of UFO organization's websites. If an organization is deemed notable but doesn't have an article, then give it a redlink not an external one. Notable organizations should have articles, if we just stick an EL in there, no one will ever make the article. —[DeadEyeArrowTalkContribs] 17:02, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I disagree with Otolemur's assessment. As a regular contributor to WikiProject Paranormal, I have not noticed any spam links here. Previous discussions on this page and previous edits of this page reflect deletions of "Red Link" organizations in favor of external links. And now, external links have been deleted. I don't really care which you personally prefer, there needs to be a STANDARD for this. Hours of my volunteer research work have simply been deleted time and time again. I will not contribute here any further if a standard is not adopted for what's important and what's not, and what to do in situations where you know something is or was important but don't have further time to research for a "full article." Decide red vs. external link now, and start DISCUSSING edits with the community instead of willy-nilly doing things. I don't have the time to figure out what you guys deleted, so if you're interested you can check the logs and add stuff back which you think was important. SeanFromIT (talk) 22:04, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
The threshold for inclusion anywhere in Wikipedia is verifiable notability, not truth. As previous editors have pointed out, WP:NOTLINK is a policy, but subject to higher policies. If Wikipedia:WikiProject Paranormal does not set out acceptable limits on sources, then it should. If needed, Wikipedia:WikiProject Rational Skepticism can be enlisted to provide a third-party opinion. But this article is a list, and inclusion is still predicated upon our basic policies. So far, redlinks have not been written, even as stubs, to establish compliance with those policies. It would help if they were. --Rodhullandemu 22:17, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
I suggest rolling back to Mid-April 2007 if you want the red links again. SeanFromIT (talk) 21:01, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
This article is merely a list of US UFO-Organisations right now. Inserting deleted red links is the only possibility to expand the article to what it claims to be. I can spontaneously think of 4 significant German UFO-Organisations namely CENAP, MUFON-CES, DEGUFO and GEP. Not even mentioning more existing UFO organisations worldwide. The Deletion made in 2008 was counterproductive. --92.72.42.239 (talk) 20:53, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
