Party

Should we mention which party each is from? - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 17:48, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

I considered that, but found that some politicians changed parties throughout their career (take even just Michael Bloomberg for example), so I wasn't sure of exactly how to incorporate those instances. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:34, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
I added a "Party" column, though I left the cell for Michael Bloomberg blank--perhaps "Independent" would be most appropriate. Is coloring generally discouraged, or should cells in the Party column be a shade of blue for Democratic politicians, red for Republicans, and yellow for Independents? --Another Believer (Talk) 21:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Update: I went ahead and added coloring, along with legends, for the party columns. --Another Believer (Talk) 00:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Supreme Court Justices?

Should Supreme Court Justices be included in the list? Both Douglas H. Ginsburg and Clarence Thomas have admitted to past cannabis use, but I am not sure they are considered politicians. As I wrote above, the politician article defines one as "an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making", including "judges who are elected or appointed because of their political views or popularity" but not including "members of the judicial branch... since they are generally executing or adjudicating established law and custom". One could argue either way. Any thoughts? --Another Believer (Talk) 17:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I would have no problem with Supreme Court Justices being included in the list.  As long as you have a source, add 'em.  allixpeeke (talk) 08:48, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
That is a very hamfisted way to go about organizing a list like this. Judges should at least be under a separate heading. 199.120.30.207 (talk) 18:26, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
