Are these not Spanish Civil War aces? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.91.1.41 (talk) 10:16, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They are. Take into account that many Republican airmen -like Meroño and Zarauza- sought shelter in the USSR, and they took part in the war against Germany. Franco's Spain, on the other hand, deployed the so-called Blue Squadrons (for instance, Salas Larrazábal fought in Spain in 1936-39 and in Russia in c.1942). One anachronism: the American Tinker -a former American naval officer and flyer- killed himself in 1939, so he couldn't shot anything down in WW2. Have a try with his mate in Spain "Ajax" Baumler. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.142.175.22 (talk) 11:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The 13 Aces of the Blue Squadron[edit]

Air victories in the Spanish Civil War are not included on this list. The Blue Squadron was attached to the Luftwaffe's JG51 "Moelders", at least in early 1943. Don't look at me, I'm Republican.

Note:The Spanish Wikipedia article on the "Escuadrilla Azul" includes Aldós (with 6 "kills"),& Bengoa & Mateos (with 5 each). Alós became Herrero Alós. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.142.175.22 (talk) 09:10, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
