Third Doctor[edit]

Where have the references to Ron Moody and others gone from this article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.71.193 (talk) 10:21, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tenth Doctor[edit]

We need a citation for the rumor that Nighy was considered for Doctor 10, especially since there are also sources that say Tennant was always intended to play the Tenth and was more or less chosen for the role before Eccleston began his tenure. 68.146.41.232 (talk) 15:55, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There should at least be an entry for the 10th Doctor, even if you don’t have confirmation. Princess Pearl Thumb (talk) 04:47, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Eleventh Doctor[edit]

With all the speculation getting very out of hand at the moment, this section needs extra vigilence. I can find nothing on the web to suggest either David Mitchell or Henry Lloyd-Hughes had been linked with the role. No links are provided for Lloyd-Hughes and the supposed Mitchell hoax was on a website that no longer exists due to account violations, fooled very few and didn't get very far. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.155.58.66 (talk) 21:30, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is the name of Daniel Radcliffe doing in there? I hope not that is going to be the next Doctor! --CGW (talk) 15:22, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Films[edit]

What about considerations for the feature film versions? 76.66.195.159 (talk) 07:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like something that should be added. If you have a reliable source why not add it? ----

Richard Griffiths[edit]

Is it a real thing that the production team considered him after McCoy? I was told this only to find the source was a Doctor Who Magazine article speculating that he could have played the role. MartinSFSA (talk) 14:18, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major clean up needed[edit]

There are a lot of unsourced 'facts' in this article, and some of the sources that have been applied are somewhat dubious. To this day, there is little in the way of a reliable source that proves that Patterson Jospeph was ever seriously considered for the role. Unless reliable refs are added I am going to proceed with a major deletion of rumours, OR and unsourced additions. magnius (talk) 12:04, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actors considered in SFX[edit]

I have here SFX Doctor Who magazine Doctor Who special 2005 and lists some actors who were considered for the roles with some that arn't listed on the article and few who are. The ones which arn't listed in the article but are in the magazine are:

so could we find any sources which might confirm this? --Victory93 (talk) 02:16, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Got French, looking at the others now. magnius (talk) 10:48, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Jim Dale sourced. magnius (talk) 10:52, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Crowey sourced and added. Just need the other two for 7th. magnius (talk) 11:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Sachs in the 80s?[edit]

Didn't Sachs say in one of the Big Finish books (the one that came out for the 40th Anniversary of the series, I think, but it's been ages since I've read it) that he wanted to be considered either in place of Sylvester McCoy (7th) or just after Sylvester (8th, had the series continued into 1990 and beyond)? --JohnDBuell (talk) 21:50, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Additions[edit]

As IP edits are often automatically reverted, I'll just state here that I added Bill Nighy, who was quoted in the Telegraph and elsewhere as having been approached for the role of a Doctor, but he hasn't indicated which one out of respect to the others. (It's believed he was considered for the Ninth but I couldn't find a source so I didn't include this). The other I added was Boris Karloff, as revealed by the magazine Nothing at the End of the Lane in its report about the aborted radio series of the 1960s. There is no online version of the magazine, but it can be ordered if anyone wants to check the source for themselves. Richard Bignell is considered one of the authorities on Doctor Who history and was involved in the production of many BBC Video DVD releases. I believe Doctor Who Magazine also ran a story on this planned radio series. In addition to what I added, I believe Billy Connolly (cited here as being considered for the 1990s TV movie) in a 2013 TV interview - possibly Graham Norton - denied he'd been considered. I couldn't find an online source for this so I didn't add it. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 21:22, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
