The article[edit]

Hi, first of all, I've been working on this article for the last two months spending all my time here on Wikipedia. I have found information about numerous awards and nominations, all with sources and I have improved the article extremely. Just look how it looked like two months ago. Now, I know Dion did not win the Movie Awards - that's why it is noted in the article. I can move these awards into another section (at the end) in some form, but still we should keep them (it doesn't have to be a table). So I need few days to change it (I will start today). I did not mentioned theses awards in the infobox anyway. You could appreciate my hard work and not just remove it.--Max24 10:26, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't doubt that you have worked hard on the page, but the page is awards and nominations received by Celine Dion and since she has never been nominated for an Oscar or BAFTA or Emmy etc.. these awards do not belong on this page, certainly not in a table. A note at the bottom of the page mentioning that two songs performed by her have won Academy Awards is ok but there is no need for Oscar and BAFTA nominations for original score to be mentioned, as this has nothing to do with her. The table in the Grammy section should also only include her 16/17 nominations with five wins, plus the note explaining the five additional Grammys for songs performed by her, which were presented to others. The nominations for others that did not result in a win, do not need to be mentioned. The Grammy table should match the numbers in the info box at the top of the page. To a casual observer looking at the page, it appears that she is a 4 time Academy Award winner and has won 13 Grammys, when of course she has never won an Academy Award and has five Grammys. My removing these awards was not done to offend you, it was done because those awards do not belong on this page. L1975p (talk) 09:45, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think now it's ok. I have removed completely BAFTA Awards, and removed the tables for Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Emmy Awards, and left information about them at the bottom of the article. As it goes for the Geminis and the Grammys, I have moved the awards (nominations/wins) not presented to Dion, under the table with notes. It does not take much space, it is clerly noted that the award was for songwriters etc. And I can add that the Grammy Award for Album of the Year goes to all the artists on the album. That is why Dion was nominated in this category for the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.--Max24 14:26, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, I think the Grammy nomination for best album for the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack is only credited to the producers (Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Walter Afanasieff) and not to the artists. Artists only get a credit if they appear on a majority of tracks (like Whitney Houston for the Bodyguard), though I will have to try and get a source to confirm this, but I think what you've done is great, so thanks. Thanks :) I've found this: http://www2.grammy.com/PDFs/Recording_Academy/52guide.pdf and it says: "Album Of The Year - For vocal or instrumental albums. Albums must contain at least 51% playing time of NEWLY RECORDED material. Award to the artist(s), and to the album producer(s), recording engineer(s) and/or mixer(s), and mastering engineer(s) if other than the artist. NOTE: Associate producers and executive producers are not eligible. Albums of previously released recordings (reissues, compilations of old recordings and "Best Of" packages) are not eligible." There is no rule for majority of tracks. That's why for example, Beyoncé was nominated for Gaga's The Fame Monster.--Max24 15:26, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, thanks for the info. You're right about Beyonce, and even back in 2002 when the O' Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack won Album of the Year, all of the artists were credited, but the problem is that the Grammy rules often change and it can be a nightmare trying to figure out who was nominated. Just a year after Beauty and the Beast, when The Bodyguard won, Whitney Houston was the only artist credited, while others on the album (including Lisa Stansfield and Curtis Stigers) were not. So I'm not sure. L1975p (talk) 17:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've found this: http://www.grammy.com/news/grammy-rewind-35th-annual-grammy-awards These were the nominations: Eric Clapton, Unplugged; k.d. lang, Ingenue; Annie Lennox, Diva; U2, Achtung Baby; Various Artists, Beauty And The Beast.--Max24 22:58, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Yeah it seems that the Bodyguard might be a special case. I saw another Grammy archive that listed all the credited winners for both Saturday Night Fever & O Brother... with a note explaining that The Bodyguard only credited Houston and the producers on her tracks. Still haven't found all credited nominees for soundtracks like Greece, Flashdance and Beauty & the Beast though, if you ever do, let me know, and thanks again.
