Certifications[edit]

I haven't been keeping an eye on the page as much as I should. People have been adding completely bogus information that constitutes vandalism. I don't take it to heart though since this page is far from finished before it can be included on par with the other best-selling lists by country.

But please do not change the top 10 list. I spent a lot of time making that definitive list and someone removed albums and added ones, without giving references. It should be noted as well that the figures they presented were completely fabricated. The Beatles compilation did not sell over 2 million copies. In fact, it went 2xplatinum not diamond. The best-selling compilation of all-time is Les Mots by Mylene Farmer with 1.7 million copies sold. It's impossible therefore for the Beatles album to be included in the list of 2 million+.

I'll try to fix this page in the near future and finish updating it. But keep in mind if you add new information, please verify it and include references. Puckeylut (talk) 02:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Hey, if I remember correctly the top 10 list you've posted here wasn't certified by SNEP but was broadcast on a television programme in France with figures supplied by the founder of the infodisc site and others. I don't think SNEP has ever released any official figures / rankings for an all-time list. In other words, these figures are from secondary sources claiming to have access to the primary source (SNEP) - that should be noted on this page. If I'm wrong about this do let me know. :) (perennialsiren) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Perennialsiren (talkcontribs) 01:10, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, 'Oxygène has since sold an estimated 12 million copies, [making it] the best-selling French record of all time', according to this link Is there any evidence to support this? It seems as if it needs a mention on here, as I'm sure it has sold at least a million or so...
