Reliablility of sources[edit]

It seems to me that several of the sources used are unreliable gossip sheets. In particular, WP:RSNP lists BuzzFeed as not reliable, and some editors don't regard Biography.com as reliable, though there is no consensus on that one. There is also no consensus whether Screen Rant is reliable. Several others have not been discussed at RSN, but from their names I am dubious. --ColinFine (talk) 20:21, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ColinFine: Let’s start off by removing the BuzzFeed refs since we’re now in agreement that BuzzFeed is unreliable. Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 21:02, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ColinFine: I've removed the Buzzfeed refs. As for Biography.com, I've been told by Tenebrae at Talk:Chadwick Boseman#birthdate error? that "Biography.com is RS; there was a whole discussion about it one or two years ago..." Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 21:23, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine and Tenebrae: I believe this was the discussion you were referring to, Tenebrae? Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 21:57, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. It's a professionally run biographical website by a major cable network. It completely fits the definition of WP:RS. No consensus reached otherwise.--Tenebrae (talk) 15:06, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK. What about Ranker, then? Looks to be user generated to me. Screen Rant, on the other hand, does look as if it's edited, so probably RS. --ColinFine (talk) 22:44, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: On second thought, Ranker may be unreliable as well. Therefore, I'm going to remove the Ranker refs. Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 22:56, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: After reading your comment at the help desk, I've also added references from Business Insider, Insider.com and Vulture.com. Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 23:05, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of celebrities who unsuccessfully auditioned for Saturday Night Live's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:56, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
