Cathedral?[edit]

I'd think a list of the churches in a diocese or an archdiocese would include the cathedral. Someone might want to add St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York to the list. Gentgeen (talk) 03:59, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its been added by someone, although technically it shouldn't be on the list of churches.---James R (talk)

Additional Churches missing from the list[edit]

In reviewing this listing for Churches in Manhattan I too was surprised that there were a number of omissions. In addition to the Cathedral Church of St. Patrick, there is no listing for Old St. Patrick's, the first Cathedral of the Diocese of New York. Also missing are St. Joseph's Church on the East Side which was the site of Pope Benedict XVI's meeting with other Christian leaders and my own parish, Holy Family Church on East 47 Street. Holy Family Church, known also as the United Nations Parish, was the site of Pope Paul VI's meeting with other Christian leaders during his visit to the United States and the United Nations in 1967. I think this is a list of parish churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, so it originally excluded special churches controlled by Religious Orders. But various additions have begun including them, making the list incomplete.---James R (talk)

Incorrect reference[edit]

There's a reference that points to Westchester Library System but this cannot be the intended link. Does anyone know what it should refer to? --Northernhenge (talk) 19:31, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability or not of churches listed[edit]

I believe this list-article is probably okay in terms of notability, itself, but I don't expect that every church that it lists is notable by Wikipedia standards (wp:GNG). Some of the links go to churches that are clearly notable; others go to stubs with nothing more than can be included here in the list-article. I do appreciate that while most of the Manhattan churches are linked, that other boroughs show unlinked names. Maybe some that are linked now should be delinked and their stub content moved back into here. I wonder if there is some approach to assess which ones are notable vs. which ones are not. Then allow some stubbed articles to exist and grow, but merge the unlikely ones back to here. It's not okay to create links for all and create stubs for all, with no consideration of actual notability. --doncram 02:10, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Lafort":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 04:23, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
