Wooburn[edit]

The parish of Wooburn styles itself Wooburn and Bourne End yet I can find no reference to the name being officially changed. I have emailed the clerk of the parish council to see if he can shed any light on this anomaly. Skinsmoke (talk) 11:01, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmation now received from Lisa Witney, clerk to Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council, dated 17 July 2009, that the name was formally changed in 2004. Skinsmoke (talk) 12:23, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Little Chalfont / Aylesbury Vale parishes[edit]

Good work Skinsmoke. On Little Chalfont as it was newly created from the division of Amersham CP as per footnote [7] it does not have a distinct and direct historic connection with Amersham RD so the footnote to the RD is perhaps slightly misleading suggest if anything a revision to footnote [7] to reflect this. The same issue I think (without checking) may apply to some of the Aylesbury Vale. Thoughts please? CP.Tmol42 (talk) 11:42, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are a number of civil parishes, not only in Buckinghamshire, which have been created since local government reorganisation. I have tried to keep a common style throughout List of civil parishes in England, and the former area reflects the former authority covering the area of the civil parish, not necessarily that the former civil parish existed prior to 1974. Where possible, I have tried to find citations covering the creation of the new civil parishes. as with Little Chalfont, which was created not just from Amersham, but also partly from Chalfont St Giles. Sometimes these make their origins clear in the statutory instruments, as in this case, but more often they don't. However, there is a lot of work still to be done finding these. My sources at present only go back to 2005, though I think I have older sources available on another computer when I get round to looking at them. However, the first priority at the moment is to get all the pages in List of civil parishes in England up to the same level - it's taken four months so far working back from Worcestershire - just Bristol, Berkshire and Bedfordshire to go!
