Removal of Karl Popper[edit]

I propose we remove from the list Karl Popper who has very, very little to do with cognitive science. IMO we should ask: could one reasonably add its page to Categories:Cognitive scientists? The answer is obviously: no. I suggest we adopt a similar criterion to decide whether one page can be listed on this page. --DarTar 07:27, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Since I built out much of Category:Cognitive scientists, let me explain how I decided whether or not to include someone. First, I looked at pages that linked to Cognitive science or Cognitive linguistics. For anyone whose article unequivocally stated that they did research in "cognitive science" (or a subdiscipline) or that they are affiliated with a Department of Cognitive Science (or equivalent), I added them to the category. If their article said anything about their work being controversial or disputed and I was not familiar with their work, I left them out. I would not have included Karl Popper using those guidelines, since I don't know him and his article says nothing about his involvement in cognitive science. I'd say the key criterion is that the person's article explain their connection to cognitive science. Along these lines, I would also leave John Searle off of this list as well. I removed Popper and Searle, in line with the comments, as well as Penrose. Added Block, Goldman, and Johnson. The list could still use some updating, but my brain hasn't booted up yet today. JMD (talk) 16:13, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
