hey ipodamos why don't you just add more and more great greek companies like freecyprus does instead of always throwing a little girl fit? i just see you complain about things but he/she is the one actually contributing to the list. Do you consider mineral water products of companies that are already in the list great companies? All i have said is that we need to have some basic rules in order to have a decent greek list of companies and i was totally ignored against any wiki rules that demand discussion before any major changes. This is no rocket science. If you had the time to go through the list you could also see my contribution. I am not sure why you consider my comments 'girl fit'. Folks, let's have a discussion before we start deleting large numbers of Greek companies from this site. It seems unfair to delete a company when each and every Greek company here contributes to the Greek economy and employees a certain number of Greeks. Each of those Greeks employed, whether in Greece or outside, invariably also contribute to the Greek economy. Anyway, let's discuss before deleting. Reality check here:
Wikipedia is neither a mirror nor a repository of links, images, or media files. Wikipedia articles are not:
1) Mere collections of external links or Internet directories. There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:External links for some guidelines.
2) Mere collections of internal links, except for disambiguation pages when an article title is ambiguous, and for lists to assist with the organisation of articles. Please follow the guidelines outlined at Wikipedia:Lists#List naming and list contents.
What you've done is create a link farm of companies which do not show the slightest sign of being eligible for articles. In fact, I recognized one as one which has been speedily deleted multiple times after being created by yourself, and my guess is that if I start clicking around the few blue links I'll find even more speedy-deletion candidates.
And your rationale about how "each and every Greek company here contributes to the Greek economy" and therefore deserves listing is meaningless, as every coffee bar and fruit stand in Athens "contributes to the Greek economy", and since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not the Yellow Pages.
A mere listing of blue links is bad enough, but at least arguable as a navigation aid. But red links? Not even close. No article, no listing. --Calton | Talk 15:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe Calton will be prepared to accept red links if they are accompanied by an external, third-party reference or two, to demostrate notability. If no references are provided, he is certainly entitled to remove red links per WP:V. Kappa 02:48, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless there's some sort of organizational or navigational principle (aside from alphabetical), a collection of internal links merely duplicates categories, though at least that's arguably reformable. Adding the red links makes it a worthless organizational or navigational aid, and adding the external links makes it a spammy link farm. If User:Freecyprus wants to start his own version of a Greek-pride Yellow Pages, he ought to find his own webserver. --Calton | Talk 22:56, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1. Company's Internet site[edit]

I believe that the purpose of this list is to inform and redirect viewers to known Greek companies. I think that we should include a link for each company that we add in the list or at least make an effort and add a few words about the area of each company along with a link to the company's site. All companies without an internet site shouldnt be included in this list. Many people have also included names of products rather than names of companies. I took the initiative to delete those that their respective companies did not have an internet siteIpodamos 20:41, 25 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

You have a good point, however, believe it or not, there are still many companies in the world today, Greek and non-Greek, that do not have a public internet site. It is not fair to those Greek companies, which are part of the Greek economy and employ Greeks in and out of Greece, to be removed from this list simply because they do not have an internet site.

well i strongly doubt that there are strong companies out there that do not have an internet site. In case they ve chosen not to be represented on line why should we add them to the list? In any case i think that the problem exists only with really small companies. I am not against the inclusion of as many as possible companies;its just space economy. Also, it would be unfair to have companies like: Kyr-Giwrghs coffee shop Kolopetinitsa S.A. next to Intracom for example. Ipodamos

2. Length of the list[edit]

Another consideration is the length of the list. In order to include as many Greek companies as possble i believe we shouldnt include subsidiaries of major companies; the groups holding company is enough- a brief description of the company's are is adequate Ipodamos 21:04, 25 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

3. Avra mineral water[edit]

Please, do not add Avra mineral water or similar water products in the list of Greek companies. Avra is produced and distributed by the Coca cola 3E company that is already included in the list.

4.Vandalism[edit]

Freecyprus: this is the 10th time i am deleting the avra mineral water and other water products. You have been adding them repeatedly without discussing it even that you know that there are people that disagree. You have failed yet to make your point on why you re still including products in a list of companies Ipodamos

Unnecessary Article[edit]

Big Greek Business are missing[edit]

We need to add the nickel smelting industry, the sugar process industry, the cable manufacture industry, the flour mill industry, the textile industry, the industrial gas (not to be confuse with natural gas) industry, the glass industry, the salt industry, the fertilizer industry, the plastics industry, the paper industry, the fur industry and many more. These are notable industries ranked among the top 100 in the country and there is no lemma for them in Wikipedia.--Costaud (talk) 14:02, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The nickel smelting industry has been added, the biggest cable manufacture is part viohalco which we include. Also, the biggest fertilizer industry has been included. However, big insurance companies such as interamerican, eurolife, national insurance and intersalonika are still missing. In addition, there are many companies listed in the stock exchange such as Fourlis, Sarantis, Lamda Development and more which are not listed such as retailers like Sklavenitis, Plaisio and Moustakas.
