counties without towns[edit]

There were once three counties without any towns. Does anyone know them? Chris 06:54, 28 October 2007 (UTC) I believe they were[reply]

Arthur County, Nebraska
Grant County, Nebraska

Dakota county plates[edit]

I've excised the sentence and reference:

"It was announced on June 8, 2009 that Dakota County will start using the ABC 123 format beginning in 2011, when the new plates are expected to roll out. ^[1]"

In response to a strong public reaction in favor of keeping the 70 prefix, the decision to use the ABC 123 format was reversed on August 17, 2009. The Sioux City Journal covered the story on August 18, 2009: http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/news/article_98d2a1b0-3bc4-5bef-947d-3c5b3bb51590.html

Inconsistency in listing of townships[edit]

Some Nebraska county articles list cities (which are governmentally independent of any township, as opposed to villages, CDPs, etc., which are always located in some township) in their township listings, whereas others do not. What is (or should be) the standard procedure for these listings? Backspace (talk) 18:24, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The relationship between cities and townships appears to vary within the state: per "Township Governments", first page, second column, of this US Census document, "Township governments exist in 28 of the 93 Nebraska counties. Within these 28 counties, township governments do not cover the entire area of the counties: some cities, but not all, exist outside the area of any township."
