Two articles, one topic; stronger together. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 01:06, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name of list[edit]

Along with the merge proposed, above, I would like to suggest that the (section with the) name of the list be changed to List of environmental killings, so as to include individuals who, although they may have been killed for environmental reasons, would not necessarily view themselves as environmental activists. The suicide problem[edit]

At one point an editor has expanded the scope of this article to include suicides, in order to include a prominent Thai environmental suicide in this article. However, there are some issues with this. Firstly, these suicides are not "killings", but If someone can find a source which disagrees, I'll be happy to see it. The suicides are, rather protests anyway. it would be better to keep the article about unlawful killings, as the rest of the article stats are about murders and such. Including suicides in the scope of this article poses other issues. Technically any suicide of someone with environmental "sympathies" (for want of a better word), which gains media attention could be included. I fear that this would cause the article to become a list of mostly just suicides of people with environmental "sympathies", rather than highlighting the (more serious?) issue of homicides of environmental activists and related individuals.

Perhaps such suicides could be listed in a separate article, but they probably shouldn't be here.

Potential methods of clarifying the distinction here that this article should only include unlawful killings could include renaming this article to List of environmental unlawful killings. This is a bit clunky though. Mako001 (talk) 12:42, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
