Well, ok, Kanatlarovski is an ethnic Macedonian, not sure about his place of birth, but he lived in what is today Macedonia for most of his life, and coached Macedonian NT for a while.

Don't know what Milan Jankovic is doing under Bosnia, he's a Serb, lived in Serbia most of his life and played for Red Star Belgrade. Same thing for Milorad Ratkovic. As for Risto Vidakovic, you even got his name wrong - it's Risto not Hristo - he played for Serbia-Montenegro NT and was in the World Cup 1998 squad before getting injured. Currently, he as an assisstant to Javier Clemente in the Serbian NT [1]. Vidakovic's and Ratkovic's case is same as Savo Milosevic.

Ratomir Dujkovic is another ethnic Serb who was born in what later became independent Croatia, but spent most of his life in Serbia.

Dragoje Lekovic was born in Montenegro, don't know about whether he declares as a Serb or a Montenegrin since it's kind of a touchy subject there, but for now it's probably safe to put him under Montenegro. 67.68.47.187 14:41, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

• Kanatlarovski was born in Beograd, Serbia [2] [3] [4]. He played for his native national team one time [5] and so he can be considered Serbian. He played as well for Macedonia, but I can't know the ethnicity of all this players, so I must consider fact data (where he was born and for what nft he played) easy accessible and wider known.
• Jankovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina [6] [7] (or less probably in Beograd [8]) and he played for Yugoslav nft, so he can be considered Bosnian (at the time was comprised in the Yugoslav nft and Bosnians represented Bosnia in the Yugoslav nft). If you can prove that he was born in Beograd, I/You 'll move him.
• Ratkovic was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina [9] [10] [11] and didn't played for any nft, so he must be considered Bosnian.
• Vidakovic 's name is Hristo [12] [13] [14] and he was born in Šekovići, Bosnia and Herzegovina (same links). It seems he played for Bosnian nft (first link). IF he played for Bosnian nft he must be considered Bosnian. IF NOT, he surely played for Serbia and Montenegro nft [15] as "Risto", and so he must be considered Serbian. If we can't say he never played for Bosnian nft, his native country is Bosnia and he must be considered Bosnian.
• Dujkovic was born in Borovo, Croatia. He played for the SFR Yugoslavia nft who comprised Croatia, so he must be considered Croatian. Again: your criterium is ethnicity, mine are place of birth - national teams he played for. Simply 'cause I can't determine ethnicity of all the players listed.
• Lekovic was born in Sivac, Serbia [16] [17] [18] and he played for Serbia and Montenegro nft, so he must be considered Serbian.

Please note: I'm not sayin' I've got the TRUTH, I have simply explained you why I did this way. I needed fact data 'cause I can't do genealogical researches for all the players on this list, unfortunately. If you want I can explain criteria on the article, to be clare. OK, got it. Your main criterium is national team that the player played for, and if he did not play for any national team then the next deciding criterium is place of birth. That takes care of all the cases that I listed except for Risto Vidakovic. He played for FR Yugoslavia NT (team that was later renamed Serbia-Montenegro and now Serbia). Look here [19] and do a CTRL+F search with Vidakovic. He actually played quite a prominent role on FR Yugoslavia team that qualified for 1998 World Cup in France. The only reason he didn't play at the World Cup was his knee injury that subsequently got even worse since his knee infected. So, since he played for Serbia-Montenegro and he never played for Bosnian NT that means he falls under Serbia. His "case" is exactly same as Savo Milosevic's.67.68.45.32 00:02, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Please,this way of making the list is very wrong. You find it hard to find the etnicity of the ex Yugoslavia players? Then please ask anybody from the territory of ex Yugoslavia and he/she can easely tell you. First,we are talking about LA LIGA so almoust all this players are well known. Second, the reason wy it is very wrong to decide the country of the players by their birth place is, in the case of ex Yugoslavia becouse you have a lot of minorities of one nationalities in other republics but in this case the national belongimg is very strong. Serbs from Croatia or Croats from Bosnia, just as an exemple, love their nationalities and some may even hate the county where their birth place now belongs. There was a devastating war becouse of this, REMEMBER? A Serb from Croatia or from Bosnia or from wherever wil allways be serbian and will feel Serbia as its homeland and that is the case for other nationalities as well. They will even prefer to be Australian, Canadian or Swiss for example. Almost all of this players are internationals so why dont you have this in mind in first place? Risto Vidakovic is born in Bosnia but, after the independence of Bosnia, he decided to play for FR Yugoslavia (composed of Serbia and Montenegro) and not for Bosnia. I see you arguing about place of birth, wich are almost irrelevant in the yugoslav case becouse the present day borders dont indicate the nationalities. You mention where they live, but that is also irrelevant becouse people can live all there lives somewhere and that dosn´t mean that they feel like from that place. Specially in sports. My family friend, Bora Milutinovic coached more than half a duzen selections all over the world, lived in those countries, married a mexican women but he was, is and allways is going to be serbian.

Lets see the cases. Kanatlarovski, dosn´t matter his place of birth, was playing for the Yugoslavia team, and after the independence of Macedonia he played for Macedonian national team. He should be in the Macedonia list.

You say that Dujkovic was born in Croatia so he MUST be considered croatian. Please! Robert Prosinecki was born in Germany and is he in the german list? Of course not. Remember that serbs in Croatia had a 4 year war with the croats and at the and a lot of them suffered ethnic cleansing and seeked refuge somewhere else. This is a sensible issue. Calling a serb from croatia "croat" is like calling an israeli "palestinian" or a nazy gay that he is a "jew"! Cant you understand that?

Resuming:the easiest way to do it is to see the wiki page of the player, where clearly indicates the national teams in wich the players played. For the players that were active in the 90´s you will see that if they played for some of this national teams, Slovenia,Croatia,Bosnia-H.,Macedonia, they should be in that nation list, even if they played for Yugoslavia before. The players that continued to play for Yugoslavia after 1991/92 should be considered, without exeption,serbian or montenegrin, depending on the case. The players that are now international for Montenegro should be in Montenegro list,and most of the others are serbian. The players that have played for Yugoslavia only prior to the break up of the country, and all the others, it is easy: unsted of looking to their birth place, read the first sentence of their wiki pages where it clearly says their national belonging and, if you put them in that way, everybody is going to be happy. I cheked the players and is shoking to see the current day well known coach Ratomir Dujkovic is in Croatia and not in Serbia list. Dujkovic himself declares like serbian or "from Serbia" so wy are we complicating it? In his page clearly indicates that he is serbian and there is no dispute about it. Hristo Vidakovic choused to play for FR Yugoslavia (Serbia&Montenegro) national team after the independence of his birth place Bosnia in 1992, so he is rightfully in Serbia list.

On the other side, Ivica Barbaric is croatian and he is in Serbia list.

Hello @Zigurat:, can we include players who were born outside of Spain and have another nationality besides the Spanish nationality? And they did not capped in any national team, whether the Spanish national team or another national team? I mean the player Miguel Retuerto Egea, who was born in Switzerland and has Swiss and Spanish nationalities. He participated with Barcelona in an official league match in the 1984-85 season.
