John Fell House[edit]

"John Fell House", of Allendale, New Jersey, is listed (first in fact), but the link goes only to a bio article John Fell (judge) with no information about a house. John Fell House is currently a redlink, and I see no such listing in National Register of Historic Places listings in Bergen County, New Jersey. I would like to add coordinates for the house to this article if its location can be found and if it can be confirmed to have been on the route. But there's currently no source supporting its mention at all. --doncram 20:56, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Development of list-article and related articles (with pings)[edit]

This list-article, developed in the past by User:Polaron and myself, now indexes revised articles in Category:Historic places on the Washington–Rochambeau Revolutionary Route. Please note that some of the linked articles have been developed more than others. All of the roadway segments and three of the four camp sites have photographs, most taken by User:Magicpiano and at least one by User:Sphilbrick. The March Route of Rochambeau's Army: Manship Road-Barstow Road benefits from three photos; a couple others have two photos. The Fifth Camp of Rochambeau's Infantry is probably the most developed camp site article.

For the list-article, I have added coordinates and rearranged the list by east-to-west order. The linked Bing map will display the locations (you may have to change from usecache=1 to usecache=0 in the URL to see them all). IMO, the version right now has too much detail on the road segment items, and not enough detail on the buildings, camp sites, and other historic districts along the route.

In the past (2011), there was confrontational editing on the series of articles. It was arguable then that multiple articles contained "boilerplate" and should not exist separately, but instead should all redirect to this one list-article which would contain almost all the information previously included in the separate articles. Now, I think it is more clear that sufficient development has been done in the separate articles--especially with the inclusion of photos now available--that attempting to merge all their material into one list-article is not desirable. Please discuss alternative ideas for development here. If someone wishes for all the separate articles to be eliminated, please do discuss here, and let's have a proper consensus-building process. If there is disagreement on that, I think the proper way forward would be to open a formal multiple-article AFD to bring in opinions of uninvolved others. Comments welcome. --doncram 12:45, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
