Judges or Current Judges[edit]

What is the difference between the "Judges" chart and the "Current Judges" chart? Are they redundant? Thank you. Knope7 (talk) 03:43, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is slightly more information in the current judge list, eg mandatory retirement, which is mostly empty. The balance can be incorporated in the main list under comments. As the list is now sortable it is easy to see who are the current judges by sorting on end date. I propose to merge the information into the main list unless anyone has strong view that it should be kept. Find bruce (talk) 22:56, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As there was no objection merged the two lists, omitting the columns "mandatory retirement" and "education" as these were mostly empty.

Judges transcluded from list[edit]

I have moved the list of current judges by location from the Federal Court page to here & then transcluded it, so that article will appear as it has done. The main reason is so that when there is a change to the judges, only one article needs to be updated, hopefully cutting down on conflicts between the two lists. Neil/John Young[edit]

Any reason why he is called "John Young" in the article? His name is Neil J Young and as far as I know (anecdotal, sure) he is always known as Neil Young. See https://www.vicbar.com.au/profile/6018 Fat Red (talk) 22:50, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because at the time he was added to the list his article was John Young (judge) and subsequently the article had been moved. The problem with anecdote and recollection is that it can be wrong. No matter, his article cites sources for him being commonly known as Neil. --Find bruce (talk) 02:39, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
