Cleveland coverage[edit]

Stations WABQ, WELW, and WEOL — as well as WOBL, WNZN, WKHR, WHWN, and WDLW — may not serve all of Cleveland proper, but they do serve parts of the city. This can all be easily verified using the coverage maps available on radio-locator.com's station-specific pages. This, along with the fact each station is in the Cleveland radio market, is sufficient reason to include them in this article. I've highlighted stations (in bold) that specifically target Cleveland (and the market as a whole), while the others I've left in normal font. First, WP:MOSBOLD limits the use of boldface to titles, table headings, etc. Second, coverage varies considerably from one station to the next. What they all share is service to Cleveland, and sometimes that coverage is limited. I don't see any reason to complicate a simple list: station articles already include coverage information. Here's the nuts and bolts of the deal. All I'm asking is that in the listings, we have some sort of note detailing which stations are targeted to Cleveland and the overall market, and which ones are aimed at outlying areas (such as Lake and Lorain Counties) that you can't even hear in Cleveland itself or most of the market as a whole. It seems to me that you are the one who doesn't want to compromise...You have a very "my way or the highway" approach, and like throwing wiki minutae around as if you're the "gatekeeper" of the page. That kind of attitude--if you did it in the real world--would get you decked (And before you say anything, I'm not threatening you, I'm just saying you need to lighten up a bit as well. You aren't blameless in this.) You come off as "holier than thou", and I react too strongly sometimes. But back to the point, a note detailing diiferences in stations would help, as the current format makes all the stations seem as they're full market, which they aren't. I can live with what you did, though WCLV does cover the city itself with it's primary range (as per Radio-Locator), so it shouldn't be part of the "limited" exceptions. Vjmlhds 13:37, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, please indent your comments. It's not difficult to do, but it is difficult to follow discussions when you repeatedly ignore WP:TALK. Secondly, the "local" (or, as you called it, "primary") coverage limit for WCLV as provided by radio-locator.com runs right down the middle of Cleveland. Anyone who has ever listened to 104.9 in Cleveland can verify that coverage is mixed at best on the city's east side. This is why I added the qualifier "generally" to the statement "generally provide coverage only to western parts of Cleveland". Also, I'm not sure why you removed WBWC as that station's coverage is non-existent east of I-77 (remember that WHWN also broadcasts at 88.3 FM out of Painesville). Please note that I'm not in favor of any kind of comment on station coverage as every radio station in this article covers at least some part of Cleveland; I have reluctantly agreed to this in the spirit of cooperation.  Levdr1lp  (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm done...rather than go back and forth about what does and doesn't serve Cleveland, all stations listed are part of the Cleveland market (that was never in question), and people can see for themselves via Radio-Locator the signal range of each station, so they know what serves Cleveland itself, and what serves the outlying areas. List composition[edit]

@Vjmlhds: I know it's meant well, but to be honest, the page is way too long and with cruft added over the years that doesn't need to be there. A list article does not need to show stuff like branding or if a station has a webcast (only one station, WABQ, does not have a web presence of any sort, and HD subs without webcasts are not notable enough to merit a mention). Honestly, even listing the HD subchannels is excessive and I contemplated removing them, too. When all that is pared back, along with redundant information and non-compliant stuff like WP:SMALLFONT, then there is no reason for separate tables for full-power and low-power. It is why I did what I did, to start making the page concise and simple. I'm adding Sammi Brie to the mix in this discussion as we've been teaming up on a lot of stuff of late, especially in this field. Nathan Obral • he/him • t • c • 21:32, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
