GnuDB as replacement for FreeDB[edit]

I have just added GnuDB to the list, as they now state on their webpage that they are a new home for the FreeDB database. Solbu (talk) 21:25, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The list only includes notable entries, that is, services that have their own article on the English Wikipedia. If you want to include the service, you should write the article first, but you should make sure the service meets the notability requirements (a statement on their own website is not sufficient). —J. GnuDB is the heir to freedb, which was the heir to CDDB. It is notable even if for no other reason than it's clear lineage back to the first[?] database. There is no need to proliferate more separate articles. Fix the ones you have. -maxnort 98.115.161.194 (talk) 20:03, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

LiederNet Archive[edit]

It might be appropriate to add a reference to The LiederNet Archive (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_LiederNet_Archive).

LiederNet is a large database of texts that have been set to music. The entire contents of the database are freely accessible to the public. Many entries include bibliographic notes, and are cross-referenced with composers and authors, among other fields. This representative entry displays a text along with a translation (provided by a site volunteer), and a number of relevant links in the footnote section: https://www.lieder.net/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=45910

Currently there are 183,000 texts, 39,000 volunteer translations and over 140 languages in the database. I'm assuming this would appear in the same section with Genius. (Disclosure: I work on the Archive.) Pheidias (talk) 22:59, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
