Updating debris count[edit]

space-track.org provides a fairly straighforward way to get the current debris count once you create a free account. Go to the query builder, select class "satcat_debut", set limit 1, check "metadata". Define predicates -- INTLDES like 2010-041 (international designator of the fragmented object stripping letters), OBJECT_TYPE = DEBRIS, DEBUT > 2019-08-10 (a date a few days before the event, in the ISO format). Hit "Build query" and "Run query." It will return "request_metadata" set with "Total" count. To find the number of pieces still in orbit add DECAY = null-val predicate.— Sbsail ^talk 21:26, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Briz-M[edit]

Title[edit]

I'm not going to start an RM at this stage, but it might be worth considering changing the title of this article. By definition, any satellite launch is a "space debris producing event", so a more precise title might be useful. --W. D. Graham 21:02, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria[edit]

For both tables we should have criteria for inclusion — either a set number of entries or a cutoff value. I just updated the "top debris creation events" table, but only made sure everything that was included before is still there. --Lasunncty (talk) 06:08, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
