17th century buildings listed here are unreliably sourced. While not impossible one or more of these date to the 17th century, citation should include some known 17th century feature. Citation of a web site stating a date is not reliable, according to wikipedia guidelines; if a statement is unlikely to be true, then that statement should be removed.Old houses (talk) 17:01, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

None of the houses listed with a 17th century date has any indication, cited or otherwise, of such an early date of construction. These will be deleted, unless properly cited.Old houses (talk) 02:49, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a preference regarding any particular un-tested houses, but it is useful having a list of claimants easily accessible, so hopefully interested parties can investigate further and conduct dendro on them in the future (and obviously make the report accessible) and confirm or refute claims definitively. If you want to split off some of the properties below the list as "unverified claims" or "estimates" (like the Massachusetts list) and list them below the others, I don't have a problem with that. Obviously most claimants have biases toward older dates so it would be good to investigate with dendro. There are citations to the claims being made. If you want to change the criteria of the list to be broader, that's something we could do to make it more consistent. Swampyank (talk) 13:47, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
