Though I promised to myself that I will nominate this article to DYK, now that I done so. Can somebody find a picture of Little Mix for this article?

It seems that people are randomly adding pics of them but are just getting deleted by wikipedia because they have to copyright. If anyone here lives in the U.K. maybe you guys can take a photo of them during their live appearances or fan meetings? Bleubeatle (talk) 22:00, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Comments

Me and another user have locked horns over which rendition of a table to use. I think that the version on the left should be used, whilst the version on the right is its current version.--90.220.160.180 (talk) 19:03, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

The I like the one on the right better no offense. Having the member's names on the top row and with their own columns is unnecessary since this page is about the group and not the individual members themselves. When you've created articles about each individual member then you can place the one on the left minus the other members' names. Bleubeatle (talk) 01:59, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
I just have one question about their 1st bootcamp. Why is the result only "Through to group's category"? Didn't they also fail frist? They were asked to be in the group's category afterwards right? I'm sorry I didn't watch those parts. Can someone clarify? Bleubeatle (talk) 02:02, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes they were. I'll add it now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by World Flying (talkcontribs) 11:14, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Note: I've changed some of the markup of the above tables as it was transcluding this talk page too. Any comments that refer to the "left" and "right" versions refer to the new and original versions respectively. matt (talk) 17:54, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Looks like someone changed the format now. I reverted it back to this version again.Bleubeatle (talk) 23:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Profiles for members in articles

How about we have basic infomation for acts here on here and they have own pages/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by World Flying (talkcontribs) 11:18, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

They're not notable enough (yet) for their own articles – see WP:BAND, where at the bottom it says "members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases". matt (talk) 11:32, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Member order

Do we have any preference or reason behind a particular order of listing the members' names? At the moment the infobox, lead and member section are in alphabetical order, whereas the "1.1 The X Factor (2011)" section has a different, arbitrary order. We should be consistent throughout, so I wondered if there was any reason or existing consensus for this. matt (talk) 11:32, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

If there's going to be any order, alphabetical is the only one I can think of, and probably the best if there are other ways. –anemoneprojectors– 17:13, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
That's my thought. The only other suggestion I can offer is to list the de facto lead singer first, if there is one – I didn't watch the X Factor enough to know! matt (talk) 17:56, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
I also believe that we should list them in alphabetical order until we know who the lead singer (if there is one) is Fatty2k10 (talk) 18:01, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Weeks

Throughout the article we use the phrase "week" to describe events during the X Factor ("...known as Rhythmix until week 4" etc.). The "Performances on The X Factor" table has one column headed "Week" – to what does "week 4" refer – the fourth row (i.e. Judges' houses) or the fourth live show? Either way the wording needs to change – I suspect that "week n" refers to the live shows, in which case we should change the week heading to "show" and clarify that weeks refer to the live shows and not the pre-records. matt (talk) 01:56, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

As no-one has shown an opinion on this, I've gone ahead and clarified all mentions of the word "week" (diff). The table now refers to "shows" and references to shows such as "week 7" are now "live show 7". matt (talk) 22:27, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Put the image of Little Mix on X Factor Series 8 article as well please?

Thank you to who ever provided the photo for this article. I tried putting it on The X Factor (UK series 8) as well but it won't come up. Could anyone please help out? Thanks. Bleubeatle (talk) 01:42, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I've fixed it. The image field should have been:
|image = [[File:Little Mix X Factor Live Tour.jpg|200px]]
It's now in the infobox with a caption. matt (talk) 08:28, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

this band is NOT hip/hop as listed under genres eminem and lil wayne are hip hop remove this please--Mr JKX (talk) 15:11, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

What about Destiny's Child, and TLC then? This group has listed one of them as their influences for their upcoming debut album. Just because Eminem and Lil Wayne are "hip hop" artists doesn't mean that their music should be similar to other groups who have the same genre as them.Bleubeatle (talk) 03:53, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Creating new articles for the members

I have a suggestion, to create new articles for each of the Little Mix member. ZZ47 (talk) 18:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

There is not a need for this yet. Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles says that "members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases". As the members of Little Mix have not demonstrated notability independent of the group, they should be listed in this article. matt (talk) 07:25, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Template renamed

AmeliasLIL (talk) 07:28, 7 October 2012 (UTC) Beside the labels it says Will.i.am. This information is incorrect and Little Mix are only signed to Syco. Can you please fix this.

Done. While it seems entirely possible that the group is signed to both (see Google hits), I cannot find a reliable source to provide any verification. The Will.i.am Global website only lists three artists, but this seems to be spectacularly out of date. matt (talk) 10:33, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Little Mix

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Little Mix's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

@Stfg: Oh I didn't realise that. Yeah they probably are better sources - is Us Weekly a real magazine? (I noticed the engagement isn't mentioned on Malik's bio at One Direction either). –anemoneprojectors– 17:12, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Zerrie rumour sited as fact?

The article claims "The couple [Perrie and Zayn] split in March 2013 but soon reconciled," and gives a link an article on a gossip website as a source. However, this is the only place that this has been reported, and it was not confirmed by Perrie, Zayn, or any of their PR people. This should be removed. 168.161.204.15 (talk) 19:16, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

I would like to add that their original name was Rythmix but was changed because a charity was already named "Rythmix"

So the sentence would be:

"Originally Rythmix but the name was changed due to a charity that also had the same name."

Continued removal of "associated acts"

Why are both Cher Lloyd and Demi Lovato being removed as associated acts of Little Mix? Is there valid reason behind it, when they are more associated than Missy Elliott? livelikemusic my talk page! 13:32, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

I've got to be honest, I don't see being a support act on tour as qualifying as "an associated act", otherwise every support act ever would count as an associated act to some other group. My personal criteria would be that they had at least recorded a song together, or better, that one or more of the group members had been in or went on to be in another group. Richard3120 (talk) 20:01, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
According to {{Infobox musical artist}} it specifically states: "Other acts with which this act has collaborated on multiple occasions, or on an album, or toured with as a single collaboration act playing together". They performed together for a series of concert dates. as part of Lovato's Neon Lights Tour alongside Lloyd, which makes their connection stronger than that of Elliott's. Personal criteria does not trump what the actual template lays out of what's appropriate criteria for the box. livelikemusic my talk page! 13:25, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough, although that does mean the infobox of every artist page on Wikipedia could potentially be filled with a lot of associated acts... I mean, how many associated acts could the Rolling Stones have, if we add up all the bands that have toured with them as support over the last fifty years? Richard3120 (talk) 21:46, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
Reading that again carefully, I take that highlighted sentence to mean that the the two acts had to have performed together as a single group (for example we could call New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys associated acts because of NKOTBSB... but not one as an opening act for the other. When I talked about "personal criteria" I meant I did not agree with what was written in the infobox template, not that I was ignoring it. Richard3120 (talk) 17:40, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

@Livelikemusic: I've raised this on Template talk:Infobox musical artist and it seems that it doesn't meet the criteria you stated above, as they did not perform together as a single collaboration act... being a support band doesn't count. Richard3120 (talk) 17:33, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Then Elliott should be removed as well; the only true associated act would be the finalists from their season of The X Factor (UK TV series). livelikemusic my talk page! 17:46, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
I agree with you. Richard3120 (talk) 22:40, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

please change the 7.5 million records to say " 5million singles and 2.5million albums worldwide" as for 7.5 million records is misleading, and could be interpreted as7.5 million albums. Thank you.

Merger proposal

The article for Leigh-Anne Pinnock has already been merged and redirected once to Little Mix, and I can't see a valid reason for its restoration. Ms Pinnock is not notable for anything outside of the group, and virtually the entire article duplicates what is already included in the Little Mix article: her personal life is covered by the section Little Mix#Leigh-Anne Pinnock (and in greater detail than this article), and the "career" section is entirely about the group, not Ms Pinnock personally. Her songwriting credit for one song outside the band is also included in the Little Mix article, and the other members of the group were also involved in co-writing it, so that doesn't make her more notable than them. All the references duplicate the references used in the Little Mix article. The only difference between the two articles are nine words stating that she has a fashion blog, sourced from a teen magazine – I don't believe that makes her either independently notable (many celebrities have fashion blogs) or counts as a reliable source, but if necessary it could quite easily be accommodated in the personal details section for Ms Pinnock. Richard3120 (talk) 15:19, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

  • Merge, not independently notable. anemoneprojectors 09:02, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Merge: Don't understand what makes Pinnock notable enough for her own article that the other girls don't have. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 20:45, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
  • Merge – Her own article is not enough to qualify in WP:MUSICBIO. SkyHigher (talk) 06:18, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Nobody seems to be objecting to this proposal – I'll give it another week and if there are no objections I will close it and go ahead with the merger. Richard3120 (talk) 21:52, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

English/British

I've seen others UK acts (Adele, One Direction) have always used "English". I've seen previous discussions and I guess is more accepted. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 09:24, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

No little mix are Australian. A band from ninety sixty in Newtown Sydney Australia. The album cover was photo was taken in a venue near the university of Sydney. They were around at the same time as Hendrix. Iculo (talk) 17:17, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

I clearly don't get what are you talking about Iculo. They are not australian, they are british. And honestly, this isn't talking about what Cornerstonepicker said and I think this may be off topic. Musicedit98 (talk) 18:17, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
Musicedit98, I think Iculo might be winding you up... Richard3120 (talk) 18:31, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
Richard3120: Yeah, I guess so. Musicedit98 (talk) 18:35, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

On topic, I've wondered about this subject... I'm sure there must be an MOS statement somewhere that says whether to describe an act as British or from one of its constituent countries. Richard3120 (talk) 18:39, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Jimi Hendrix and the doors are also Australian. Jimi Hendrix may be the originator of some of the work. Iculo (talk) 18:55, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Somebody is trying to reinvent the little mix. Iculo (talk) 18:57, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Iculo, again you're being off topic. And Richard3120 and Cornerstonepicker, don't know if I may have it right but I think that there is a MOS statement that said that and I think it would be MOS:ENGVAR. Musicedit98 (talk) 19:24, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
It's WP:UKNATIONALS, and I guess since all are from England "English band" is accurate? Cornerstonepicker (talk) 20:51, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
I think so. Musicedit98 (talk) 05:37, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
