Wine auction[edit]

Not worthy of comment in the main article, but perhaps of interesting to a passing researcher, might an auction, by Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods, on 9 June 1880 “Of The Cellar Of Wines of John J. Stone, Esq., Deceased, late of Scyborwen, Llantrissent, Monmouthshire, and Wickham Road, S.E.; Consisting Of About 200 Dozens, And Comprising Fine Sherry, Port of the Vintages of 1842, 1844, 1858, 1861, 1863, and 1868, principally of Sandeman’s Shipping; Claret of Barton and Guestier’s Shipping; Champagne; and Old Jamaica Rum”.
