OK, as this Lockheed Martin is US government owned company are images taken from their satellites (i.e. IKONOS) Public domain?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.3.95.231 (talk) 10:34, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lockheed Space Systems is largely just a contractor, the operator of the satellite determines under what licenses their images will be published. In IKONOS' case the operator is GeoEye, and images taken by IKONOS are their intellectual property. Also, I'm not sure you are correct about LMSS being owned by the US Govt, I thought is was just a division of the larger, private company. It does seem to take commercial contracts as well as govt ones anyway.--Cincotta1 (talk) 04:06, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
