SMCS vs. St. Michael's College[edit]

Citation provided by Mikeycanuck for association between St. Michael's College School and Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School was: http://www.archive.org/stream/stmyearbookofstmich1919testuoft/stmyearbookofstmich1919testuoft_djvu.txt

Quotes from cited text:

Section 11), "People should also be careful to distinguish St. Michael's College from St. Michael's College School, in whicli (sic) students are prepared for Business Diplomas, High School Entrance and Matriculation."

(Section 43), "STUDENT COUNCIL AT LORETTO Grace ElHton, President; Gertrude WuUli, Secretary; Mertis Donnelly, Treasurer."

The cited text shows the relationship between St. Michael's College and Loretto College, both associated with the University of Toronto. There is nothing in the cited text referring to St. Michael's College School or Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary school, in fact it specifically cautions readers to "be careful to distinguish" between the two "St. Michael's". 74.220.182.220 (talk) 01:45, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The citations provided are from St. Michael's College School (high school) yearbooks. The historical assoication at University of Toronto was but a part of the larger connection between St. Michael's College (which til 1950 was part of the SMC and on its campus) and Loretto Sisters (which Loretto Abbey and Loretto College School) were junior departments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikeycanuck (talkcontribs) 01:55, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The three yearbooks cited are 2000, 1974, and 1964.

2000 - one reference to Loretto, as one of three schools contributing as outside writers to the school newspaper; the other two schools were Humberside and St. Clement's.

1974 - one reference to Loretto, "Our Ski Team and Friends".

1964 - two references to Loretto. In the first reference, Loretto is mentioned as one of three schools whose students were nominees for Queen of the Ball, the other two schools were Notre Dame High School and Bishop Charbonnel High School College. The second reference is to The Annual Powder-Puff game, featuring Loretto Abbey vs. St. Joseph's College School.

Of the four references, three include other schools and none describe the historical connections claimed. 74.220.182.220 (talk) 02:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
