Song

"Love on the Brain" is a song recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna for her eighth studio album, Anti (2016). It was written by Fred Ball, Joseph Angel and Rihanna. The song was produced by Fed Ball and Kuk Harrell. The song was originally recognized as a "fan favorite", before garnering favorable reviews from music critics, some of which went on to publish campaigns for the track to get a full-scale single release.

Background

"Love on the Brain" was written by Fedd Ball, Joseph Angel and Rihanna, while its production was handled by Kuk Harrell. Rihanna and Kuk Harrell were responsible for the song's vocal production.

Composition

"Love on the Brain" has a soulful, bluesy melody and vocals and lyrics such as, "I'm tired of being played like a violin/ What do I gotta do to get in your motherf***in' heart?/ Baby like ah, woo, ah," "Love on the Brain" is a true love ballad for the ages. Rihanna wears her heart right on her sleeve and takes no prisoners in expressing the pain of a metaphorically and physically damaging-yet-undying love.[1]

Commercial performance

"Love on the Brain" moved 45,000 downloads and drew 8.1 million U.S. streams during the month, according to Nielsen Music. Notably, 30,000 of those downloads occurred in the first full tracking week after the finale aired, marking a 743 percent gain from the previous week, when it sold 4,000.

In the media

The song was featured in the May 19, season 12 finale of the long-running ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. It crowned the chart, powered by its 40,000 Shazam tags in May.[2]

Live performances

The song was performed by Rihanna on the Billboard Music Awards 2016.[3] The song was included on the Anti World Tour.

Article assessment

This article is looking pretty solid. Does anyone know if it meets B-class criteria, or even have an interest in attempting to promote to GA status? ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:12, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
