Piano Bars[edit]

Lucille is also a huge hit in sing-a-longs at piano bars where the audience sings the line "You Picked a Fine Time To Leave Me, Lucille" and then yells "You bitch, you slut, you whore!"

cover[edit]

there is another "germanized" cover by the German singer Michael Holm called "Musst Du jetzt grade gehen, Lucille" --> see the youtube video

Canadian political version[edit]

A version of this aired on country music stations in Canada just after the legal separation of Pierre Trudeau and his wife Margaret; it reputedly was sung at a campaign rally of the Progressive Conservative Party in 1979, displeasing party leader Joe Clark. Lyrics include, "You picked a fine time to leave me, Mar-ga-ret; with three hungry children and I'm losin' Quebec". GBC (talk) 18:40, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
