Someone added the text below, but I can't see how it has any relevance to this entry:

The area was settled by descendants of Te Māmaru and Mataatua waka crews. (Ref: "Ngāti Kurī, Ngāi Takoto, Te Pātū and Ngāti Kahu". Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand.)

This article has never contained that text. Perhaps you have confused it with Whangaroa Harbour, which does, and supports the statement with a reference. If you believe that article is incorrect, please post on its talk page with a more detailed description of the error, preferably including references which contradict the one given.-gadfium 09:55, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed[edit]

I thought I'd got a good grasp of this articel and then I found this reference to yet another possible captain of Mahuhu, what do you think? http://www.teara.govt.nz/NewZealanders/MaoriNewZealanders/WhangareiTribes/1/en --DuLithgow (talk) 09:57, 2 May 2009 (UTC) If another captain is mentioned in a reliable resource, then it should be mentioned here Lanma726 (talk) 10:20, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
