Series? More like two TV films[edit]

It's doubtful if this should be regarded a series. We're actually talking about two separate feature-length TV films based on two of Simenon's 76 novels and 28 short stories about Maigret; one shown in late March 2016 and the other at some later yet unspecified date, probably Christmas 2016. The only thing they have in common is that Rowan Atkinson plays Maigret in both, that Stewart Harcourt is the screenwriter, and that the production companies are the same. According to the press, Atkinson hasn't agreed to do any more Maigret films and no more seem to be in the pipeline. I think that they, at least for the moment, should be treated as two separate TV films: "Maigret Sets a Trap" and 'Maigret’s Dead Man". Thomas Blomberg (talk) 12:14, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

However, for Midsummer Murders these are series and are two hour - i.e. feature length episodes - the question is all rather moot. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 12:51, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

TV series does not exist on the site[edit]

The link to the site is not valid. More precisely on the site itv.com there is no mention of this series. It seems that they decided to forget about him, as if the show was not there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.150.3.211 (talk) 04:47, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Emotions[edit]

Though the films are very watchable, the Maigret character, as played by Atkinson, seems to have no emotions. Unlike the character in the books.(185.181.236.101 (talk) 18:46, 23 October 2017 (UTC))[reply]

Emotionless? Maybe. I never liked Atkinson in it, but I'm not sure whose fault that was. For me there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the choice of Atkinson (i.e. he's not miscast), it's just that he seems to me to be trying to deliver every line as though it were wistful poetry.FangoFuficius (talk) 17:39, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

=Great work[edit]

The people who cancelled this show should be demoted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.38.104.150 (talk) 01:57, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
