Regarding Sultan Majid's anti/pro-slavery stance, he did restrict slave dealing, previously a multinational business, into a trade carried out at certain times of the year, and only by subjects of his kingdom. British pressure was undoubtedly effective in this, and Barghash merely carried on this practice of abolition one step further, until Khalifah ibn Sa'id's abolition of slavery altogether. For confirmation, see 20 Rajabu, 1280(January 1,1864) decree restricting slave dealings in Zanzibar, as confirmed by Liet-Col. Playfair to Earl Russell, and passed by the Queen's Council at Osborne (Osborne House August 9, 1866), the Isle of Wight.

Sayyid/Sayyida not Sheikh/Sheikha[edit]

Sayyid and Sayyida are the correct official titles for the Omani royalties. They are the equivalents of prince/princess, duke/duchess, etc. The down link bellow redirects to the page of the council of minister in Oman on the official website of the Omani news agency (ONA). You can obviously view that the deputy prime minister (who's a member of the royal family) is entitled (H.H Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said). The same thing is indicated with the next two individuals from the council and the fifth and sixth as well.
