To not merge, given no support and an objection with stale discussion; reference improvement is warranted. Klbrain (talk) 10:04, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Butterworth–Juru Highway is an article that remained unreferenced since 2007. In a previous AfD, the consensus was to keep but no objection to redirect. The redirect was challenged by Rschen7754, and since no sources have been provided so far, I guess a merger discussion with input from the community is what it will take to set this in stone. • As said previously, this is part of the most important highway in Malaysia, and Malaysia is not a small country by any means. Oppose. --Rschen7754 00:07, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You do realize that "Unsourced material may be challenged and removed" actually means something, right? If it is an important highway, there's no way no suitable coverage about it can be found. and from the previous AfD, it doesn't seem to be lack of effort in finding the sources. We can't exactly let a unreferenced article stay indefinitely, so it's either delete or redirect. I don't really see why it has to be kept in its current form. WP:NODEADLINE. Also see [1], where it is highly frowned upon to remove unsourced material for the sake of removing unsourced material. --Rschen7754 00:43, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    WP:NODEADLINE is not a policy.
As for the discussion you cited, I don't think we are on the same page here. It's not like I just want to remove all unsourced claims that I came across, nor am I just nominating random articles with unreferenced tags. There is a huge difference between "unsourced claims in an article with sources" and "8 whole pages of unsourced articles about roads in Malaysia". I've conducted searches for sources and found nothing suitable, and I believed many of the editors on the previous AfD did too, which is why many of the did not object to a redirect.
