Misc[edit]

In the last couple of chess events the commentary has been in teams of two. Even though Lawrence Trent is also a chess IM, he's been taking the role of "the team" not unlike an episode of the TV show House. (This is a reference to the show structure where the other doctors on House's various incarnations of House's "team" state relatively obvious notes just to block out the scenario, and then the senior member is free to look for the higher level connections.) In the recent chess comments, Trent has to keep something going to prevent "dead air", so he might look like a weaker player. But it allows the other analyst such as Malcolm Pein to concentrate and then provide a higher level counterpoint. TaoPhoenix (talk) 02:07, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
