Flooding[edit]

Mallow has become known for flooding in recent years.Many times in 2007, flash floods destroyed businesses in main streets of the town.During the night of 9 January 2008,heavy rain flooded some streets and many local businesses were damaged.When many were asked about it,they said that they were use to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinoleary12 (talk • contribs) 16:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It said in the papers today that residents of Mallow actually objected to the implementation of flood-protection measures! Is that true? Sarah777 (talk) 23:31, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd believe that, having lived there for long enough. The council trashed Muddy Hill and the entrance to Mallow Castle when they revamped the town's flood drainage system in 2005. Thing is, though, the town gets flooded on a yearly basis (at the back of Tesco's, if you must know :) ) but something needs to be done to fix it. One year, I saw a car actually being swept off the road and along Mallow racecourse due to the bursting of the banks of the nearby Blackwater river - Alison ❤ 02:31, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
