Speedy deletion[edit]

I watch this article in portuguese and when I saw the interwiki link, I saw the speedy deletion tag. I'll not remove the tag because I'm not sure about the criteria for SD, but I'd like to give some facts:
Mallu Magalhães becames a MySpace phenomenon in January 2008, her videos have more than one million views in YouTube [1], she has about 100,000 entries in Google [2] and her lyrics are in the major world´s lyrics sites [3]. And, as it appears, she is just beginning. I think the article is relevant, or at least deserves a discussion in AfD. (Caiaffa (talk) 00:08, 9 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

  • The article really needs to make stronger assertions of notability, because as it stands there is only a very weak claim to notability. I'll remove the CSD tag as indeed given what you say above it would seem inappropriate. Polly (Parrot) 00:20, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's 15 year old brazilian girl covering Bob Dylan and Johny Cash, call this unnusual for her age and birthplace, but not only this:

Clean up[edit]

I have tagged the article for cleanup as it has a number of problems, not least the gender references - is the artist male or female? I would clean up the article myself but I can't read the Brazilian references, hopefully someone will be able to improve it. Poltair (talk) 14:47, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see the cleanup tag has been removed, but no attempt has been made to address the problem; I have replaced the tag. Poltair (talk) 21:16, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Again, the tag has been removed. Please discuss. Poltair (talk) 18:39, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some suggestions for improvement[edit]

  • The article refers to the artist as male (his) in the lead section, then describes the artist as 'the daughter of...' later in the article. There are many other ambiguous references to the sex of the artist, and whether the artist is a solo performer or group.
  • Myspace, Youtube, blogs etc. are not reliable sources and in general should not be used as references. Wikipedia has a useful policy section that may help understanding of what is a good source when used in biographies of living people here.
  • There are many claims in the article that do not have any kind of source, these should be removed unless a reliable source can be found.
  • The grammar and sentence structure in the article needs attention in many places.

Hope this helps for starters. Poltair (talk) 10:34, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Mallu..jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Mallu..jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
