Should this really be a seperate article or should it be put under the list of tag variations? At the very least I think the two pages should be linked.

different type of manhunt

OK, what I know as manhunt is a significantly different game, essentially, one person is it, and everyone else gets to run away (staying within certain boundaries). When the it person tags someone, that person ALSO become it, until finally (theoretically) one person is left not it, and they are the winner. See http://www.manhunt-toronto.com/ for more info.

Citing sources

The article has been flagged for not citing sources. As far as the Toronto (and, I presume, Montreal, Vancouver, Perth, Edmonton, etc,) variants go, there are numerous interviews with Matt Collins, creator of Manhunt Toronto, floating around the net: [1] (scroll down a bit), [2], [3], and on... National Post and Broken Pencil magazine had eyes present at the last High Park game, so there might be more articles on the way. Anyway, someone more adept at Wiki-fu could clean up this article and cite those damnable sources.

I'd be inclined towards removing the unsourced versions of the game from this page. The canadian manhunt games are very well documented, and the woodcote manhunt league at least has a website. As kids growing up in Ireland we played this game. Many of us would choose to play the I.R.A. version over Manhunt. I know that it is known country wide as, when discussing old games we played as children/teenagers with friends, they reportedly played it where they came from too (as do some of their children now). It's absolutely true despite your concerns to the contrary and yes had the potential to get a little violent. I think the Irish version deserves to be mentioned on the page as it is a break from the norm. Citing references is, as always, difficult to do for a kids game and so all I can give you is my assurance. Rewrite

I just did a major rewrite of the article to clarify and simplify certain parts: the two main branches have been more clearly defined; the basic rules of tag have been removed from each variation and summarized within each section; I tried standardizing some of the vocabulary/jargon, use "player" instead of "person" or "him", etc; I replaced most claims of popularity with the neutral "is played"; fixed spelling and grammatical errors, reduced superfluously redundant verbosity, and on... Rural Play

I'm not sure it's entirely accurate to say that this game is usually played in urban environments. I have played this game growing up with all sorts of different people, but never in an urban environment. Ignoring the fact I'm zombieing this, agreed. We specifically played it out where we lived, rural California, because it would be pitch black and have infinite hiding spots. We would count to 20 at the front door, everyone would run to hide, and if we were found we were to run until tagged. You would then join the "it" team and try to find people. A common strategy I pioneered was to just wear a black jacket and lay down on the street. You would never be found as you'd look like the street, and if we had a flashlight, it wouldn't be pointed at something as dumb as the street just outside the house. All this goes to show is that it's absolutely a game played between rural and urban areas.

However, I have no clue what an "urban game" even is. I can't find any references or Wikipedia pages which use the same term. Urban game redirects to Pervasive game which is nothing akin to manhunt. It is more apt to call it a sort of playground game, as it's a tag/hide and seek variation. BruhtatoChips (talk) 15:14, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Different version?

When i was younger we played a almost 'British bulldog' version, the basic rules were you had to bring the other players to the ground and then they were tagged, then they joined your team... created intresting senarios when your sitting ontop of walls trying to figure out whos on your side whilst you try to convince others your not tagged... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.14.197.38 (talk) 21:52, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Move suggestion

I suggest moving this article from "Manhunt (urban game)" to "Manhunt (game)" or perhaps "Manhunt (tag variant)". This is a game that is not played exclusively in urban areas. ViniTheHat (talk) 03:32, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
