It is noteworthy to indicate the American influence not just to Manila Bay but on the historic and civic life for Filipinos following 300 years of Spanish occupation. This influence has seemingly permeated every facet of life that ensued and still indirectly influences the current generation. Changes to the Manila Bay article were placed to indicate environmental status, key developments and possible future directions. Additional information were placed in order to raise both awareness and appreciation for this strategic area whose historic past and hopeful future will perhaps come to symbolize a meaningful sense of place for all generations of Filipinos. A section on the key developments was incorporated into the Wikipedia page for Manila Bay with the intention of highlighting the changes in the uses of certain portions of the bay through land reclamation, land conversion projects as well as the waterfront development for Manila's Baywalk. Source materials researched pointed out the causes and factors that contributed to the decline in the water quality of Manila Bay. It was important to put these together at the onset as opening statements and just make pollution a sub-set of this section whereby, the polluting elements are discussed in brief. The section on future directions were placed to mention efforts being carried out at this time. To highlight the ecosystem around Manila Bay a section was added to describe the resources available such as mangroves, coral reefs, biodiversity, upland forests and sea grass beds. It was important to place these in the article in order to paint a rich picture of the environmental state of Manila Bay even prior to its current decline due to the damaging effects of urbanization and pollution.
