15 years later[edit]

@Maclean25 and Lithopsian: There's quite a lot more evidence for notability now, including the book that was a New York Times bestseller. The new version of the article I started was a stub, it's true, but it was only up for a day, and there is vastly more content to include, and a lot of context not directly related to the WCS.--Pharos (talk) 21:24, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is the book more notable than the project, maybe? The project seems very much like a stub that is never going to merit being broken out from its parent. Maybe I just lack the imagination and knowledge to see all that it could be, but I just saw one paragraph that worked best as a section of its fairly brief parent article. I'm not going to fight if you think there is material for a solid article, but there is no shame in being a redirect to a section if it adds context and doesn't unbalance the parent article. I think that the book might technically check more notability boxes than the "project", yes, but they're basically the same topic and should be merged together (certainly has a more direct connection than to WCS in general). Hence my bolding the book title, and putting in the book categories. The book (which I've read most of by now) is just a published expression of the research project, like the website, and I think it all makes sense as one article. I also think a dedicated article on the book/project will be useful structurally to link to from various NYC history and environment articles, and it also has a lot of great maps that I have some hope of trying to free-license and show on Wikipedia articles too.
