Pay per view articles.[edit]

These were available through http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q=mansell+james&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&btnG=Search+Archives, though I didn't pay up for them. I doubt they add much to article, as the precises given don't look promising.

Edited description of citation[edit]

Previously the citation for James's DFC was described as "cryptic". Not sure why - his disappearance certainly was - but not the citation as published in the "London Gazette". It's quite typical, actually, of a periodic award of the DFC to a WW1 flyer. Grooveman2006 (talk) 02:40, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]


Actually, his DFC citation is about a quarter the length of the average award citation, and lacks basic details. I concluded it was cryptic after perusing a couple of hundred similar citations in the course of writing articles about other WWI Commonwealth aces. You can check a few of the names listed at http://www.theaerodrome.com/medals/gbritain/dfc.php, and make your own comparison.
