Cherokee for "wind"[edit]

I was told that Mariah is Cherokee for wind. My Great-Great Grandmother's first name was Mariah and she was Cherokee but I'm thinking that the story about this name meaning wind in Cherokee might just be bullsh1t (I do have proven Cherokee blood but that's not the point) and is based on the song by the Kingston Trio named "They Call the Wind Mariah". Anyone know what the truth is? Thanks. [[1]]
