COI? POV?[edit]

Was this article written perhaps by the subject? Drmies (talk) 02:27, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It really looks like that. The sourcing was clearly done by someone who has no idea what a reliable source is. For example:

The national media calls Smith “one of the fastest rising legal stars in the country.”

Such a claim is laughable. What source speaks on behalf of the "national media"? A search shows that such a claim first came from HIS OWN BOOK in which Ann Coulter is quoted! Smith repeated this "national media" claim in his book promotion (such as on Amazon.com) and his law firm's website (complete with substituting national media for Coulter-- for a proud conservative why confuse Coutler with the media).
Really this article is sad. It needs to be completely redone. SBIDog69420 (talk) 04:19, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Combining book article with author article[edit]

It seems to me reasonable to combine the book article with the author article, especially if the author article can be revised to have a neutral point of view. Dthomsen8 (talk) 16:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Dthomsen8[reply]

Agree. SBIDog69420 (talk) 04:26, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Merge. Really no point in having a separate article for a work like this. I could see a separate article for authoritative or extremely popular works, but I don't think this arrives at that level. 66.64.164.150 (talk) 17:00, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the MERGE proposal failed. In the other WP article (of the book, Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy) I make the point that the book article in WP is more important than its author's. Any merging should be put there, not here. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 04:25, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Faulty sourcing[edit]

The article makes claims about Smith being a "best selling author" and has been on a number of television shows. However, when one looks at the sourcing such claims from blogs (like proteinwisdom.com ) or the IMDB or Amazon.com. The problem is such sources fail wikipedia policy of WP:RS. Some-random-guy's blog isn't reliable for obvious reasons, Amazon.com postings just copy what publisher endorsements say (such as Amazon.com classifies Kent Hovind as "Dr" and a scientist) and the IMDB is reader contributed.

Thus, if this person is really notable there must be SOURCES that prove this. Unfortunately this article is made up poor quality blogs/promotion that attempt to put this figure in a light that is questionable. SBIDog69420 (talk) 04:25, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Two years later, I see a lot of sources at the bottom of the Article. Thanks, WP contributors! Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 04:22, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, some of the later links are "dead links". Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 04:31, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Check the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive http://archive.org/web/web.php Their store of past web pages has saved many a dead link in the past. – Philosopher Let us reason together. 10:11, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 04:51, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
