Hans von Aachen was the first to circumnavigate twice - once as gunner on board the Victoria under Elcano, then as master gunner under Elcanon in Loaisas expedition. Hans was one of the few survivors who actually managed to return. ASchudak (talk) 15:55, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A new candidate...[edit]

According to Harry Kelsing in "The First Circumnavigators" the first person to circumnavigate twice is "Maestre Anes", or Master Hans, a German from Aachen that travelled with Magellan and then with Loaisa (just like Juan Sebastián Elcano), being one of only four survivors to be rescued and returning from that ill-fated voyage. He later joined another expedition under Villalobos and vanished before 1544. ASchudak (talk) 20:07, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
