Manson family[edit]

This needs a proper source, not just what someone reviewing thinks of the film and its possible link to Charlie. Thanks. Lugnuts (talk) 18:55, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Patriarchal "back-to-the-land" cult with a guitar strumming, older, bearded, overbearing leader who oversees the Sexual explotation of vunerable young women, who are progressively brainwashed and who are encouraged to 'creepy crawl' houses and attack the owners....Hmmmm....fairly obvious to anybody where those references are coming from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irisismykid (talkcontribs) 05:46, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Still needs a reliable reference though. Lugnuts (talk) 07:57, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Made changes in Plot section[edit]

Some bits in Plot didn't match my memory, and I've changed them. For example, (1) Martha dives into the lake naked when only she and Lucy are there. When Ted later takes Martha out in a boat, she has a swimsuit. (2) At the farm, the new girl doesn't comment that all the children are boys; she asks whether the baby is a boy, and Martha replies "Yes. We only have boys." (3) Martha gets into Ted and Lucy's bed rather than curling up at its foot, which would mean lying on the floor. (4) When Patrick watches the cult members having sex, he doesn't look upset, and several members are paired off on the floor, not just Martha and Watts (if Watts is indeed the man with Martha).

There are other parts of Plot that I'm not sure about. For one, I didn't identify the householder's killer as Katie.

However, I saw the film just once, in a theater, and I don't have a DVD. A check of Plot by someone else, or several someones, would be a good idea. Cognita (talk) 05:28, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

7/16/12 I just saw the film last night - was not all that impressed, but go figure... 1) Yes Ted IS swimming in the lake when Martha dives in naked, and even makes a comment to Lucy about her lack of attire. 2) The line about the baby boys at the farm is "He only has boys". 3) Yup, she gets in their bed, not the floor. 4) You are right about #4 as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.137.226.214 (talk) 22:42, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made more changes today for better English and smoother reading as well as to correct goofs that have appeared since I was here last. Some user had again changed "Marlene Lewis" to "Marlene Miller." No, the name is Lewis! Cognita (talk) 06:29, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Further changes: I again deleted "brutally" before "raped." I don't think the rape was brutal, as rapes go. Of course, rape of any kind is brutal in a sense, but the scene presented no threats, no battery, no weapons; and Martha's awareness is dulled because she's sedated.
A note on usage: "convince" and "persuade" aren't interchangeable. Cognita (talk) 06:34, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

An IP editor keeps changing the plot in violation of WP:FILMPLOT (word count, etc) and adds in details of scenes that simply do not happen, or as they claim, happen "post credits". Again, this post-credit scene does not take place. See also this previous discussion, this and this. I invite them here to discuss these changes. Marlene Lewis vs. Marlene Miller[edit]

Why was "Lewis" changed to "Miller"? The original was correct. Female cult members identified themselves as Marlene Lewis when answering the phone at the compound. All the men were, similarly, Michael Lewis. Cognita (talk) 01:39, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IP vandalism. I've reverted it. Unless, of course, the IP can provide a WP:RS for the change... Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:26, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. A WP:RS for "Miller"? Vanishingly unlikely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cognita (talkcontribs) 06:24, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bartender[edit]

'[Martha] has a psychotic episode when she recognizes one of the bartenders as a cult member'. Is he? Or has Martha simply misidentified him? 79.68.141.100 (talk) 15:51, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reading through (I think) the shooting script, the bartender (Mike) is described as being 'confused' by Martha's reaction to him. 'Misidentifies' better describes Martha's reaction than 'recognizes'. 79.68.141.100 (talk) 05:58, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for sorting that out. It was on Film4 (again) earlier this week, and I forgot it was on. Bugger. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:24, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
