Medal Record[edit]

Kisok?[edit]

Following extensive googling, and checking Ms. Keitany's de.wikipedia entry, I found Mary Keitany's place of birth (given in the English only as Kisok, Baringo County) listed as "Kisok, Kabarnet, Baringo County"--Kabarnet being the largest town in, and administrative capital of, Baringo County. My attempts to find information on Kisok (Keitany's previously listed place of birth) resulted only in numerous mentions of "Kisok Primary School", a public school in Kabarnet. The reference to Keitany's training as a runner beginning in elementary/primary school gives me the suspicion that "Kisok" was where her athletic career, not she herself, was "born", and ended up listed as a place name due to a misunderstanding or mistranslation on the part of an inteviewer or an interview's subsequent translator. Other than this en.wikipedia page, I can find no English language reference whatsoever to Kisok in connection with Keitany, so for now I have changed her listed place of birth to simply "Kabarnet, Baringo County".
