Expansion

I think this article should be expanded (and cleaned up) as I have been the only major contributor, and others' input would most likely help. — Lunarbunny 17:35, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure if there is a seperate article for adverts in games but Penny Arcade did an expose on it yesterday in the new game Battlefield 2142, so you might want to add that to htis, or wherever it's appropriate. That was how I found my way here, from an artical they linked to. Chewbacca1010 20:14, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

BF2142 is actually using IGA Worldwide, which there currently is no article for. "In-game advertising" seems to lead to "advergaming," which doesn't exactly explain what this type of in-game advertisement is. I think "In-game advertising" needs to get turned into a seperate article and (I just looked and it's been changed) an IGA Worldwide article should be created. — Lunarbunny 01:00, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Revenue figure

Hey guys, I'm currently penning the in-game advertising article and noticed something a it wrong here. Where did this estimated revenue figure of $400 million come from? That is completely above anything I've seen mentioned for 2005 figures. (there are multiple links to news stories in the IGA article, I'm assuming its not referring to the 2006 fiscal year) - Hahnchen 03:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

My fault, I think I remember kind of tossing it on when something confused me, probably when Microsoft bought it for $200-400 million. Remove/fix if you have realistic data. Sorry. — Lunarbunny 04:53, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Lack of Sources and NPOV problem

I'm removing the criticism section. There are no sources for any of the criticisms, not to mention how incorrect the assumptions are. It seems that "gamers" (or the person who wrote the section) seems to forget the advertising in video games as early as Nintendo and Genesis games (Yo! Noid, TMNT Arcade game and Cool Spot) or the blatant advertising of games using licensed titles (Movie games). The lack of NPOV seems to ignore the necessity of advertising as a tool for revenue and marketing. Wikipedia is a source for factual information, not subjective rants. The link for the details about the SWAT patch is dead. Just a heads up 76.121.138.201 (talk) 01:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
