Matt Blunt: A Young Republican Influenced by Too Many Old Republicans

Probably one of the great things about Matt Blunt is that he is so young. Unfortunately, he's hanging out with old bureaucrats. This alludes that the young Republican is more of a yes-man for his elder party members. Another person who is certainly influential in may of Matt's decisions would be his father Roy D. Blunt who currently is the interum Republican Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives. --Bushido Hacks 15:03, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

We're told that Blunt continued his duties "full time" as Missouri's Secretary of State while stationed overseas for military duty. How would that even be possible? Didn't he have a full slate of military duties as well? The wording sounds like propaganda to me, but perhaps someone can support the "full-time" claim more objectively.70.225.70.253 (talk) 04:25, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Approval Rating

A Governors approval rating appears in most of the other Governors articles and this one shouldnt be any differant. Hes one of the least popular governors in the nation and its important to note. (this comment left by annon user 68.34.24.148)

I agree that the approval number is quite relevenat, but it was placed in a position that didn't fit with format of the article, and contained further information that was POV. I removed the POV portion, and moved the non-POV portion to a position that fit better with the format of the article.

The statement I moved / removed was "Gov. Blunt, who is in hot water over his decisions to severely cut Education and Medicaid funding, has an approval rating of 40%, the 5th lowest in the country. [1]". I agree that his very low approval rating is relevant, and sourced. However the statement regarding why his approval rating is low is based on your POV (btw - I share this POV, and the disapproval it expresses). The source you cited only says what the poll numbers are, it doesn't state the reasons behind them.

I moved the statement about the poll numbers to the "term as governor" section (I didn't delete it outright). The statement about why they are low - I did remove. The article (in the term as governor section) already discusses the controversy surrounding the medicaid and first steps cuts. There are likely many reasons for Blunts low rating, including the cuts, disapproval with Bush flowing to other Republicans, Pro-life unhappiness with his stand on the stem-cell proposition, Pro-choice unhappiness with his stands on the morning after pill. All of these are listed int he article. It is more appropriate to explain the controversies, and the poll numbers, and let the reader draw their own conclusions. kenj0418 01:53, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

U.S. Attorney Controversy

Does this paragraph need to be here? Looking at the facts this doesn't seem to warrant inclusion in the Matt Blunt article. It's not like this info isn't covered elsewhere. Dlabtot 05:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
