Matt Taylor (soccer) → Matt Taylor (American soccer) – See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople): "Do NOT attempt to differentiate between people simply by the qualifiers "(footballer)" and "(soccer)". Association football and soccer are different names for the same game in different parts of the English-speaking world." (emphasis original). There are at least three men of the same name who play the same sport, one of whom played in the Premier League for a decade. Yes, the primary player is at Matthew Taylor (footballer) but there are a million references in which he was called Matt or Matty. [1] [2] [3] It is condescending to American readers to believe that they are only looking for a man from their own country when they are searching a man called Matt Taylor who played the sport organised by FIFA. 90.240.52.26 (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support per nom - and we may also consider relocating Matt Taylor (footballer, born 1982) to Matt Taylor (English footballer) for consistency unless another Matt Taylor comes up and is not American, South African, Australian nor Canadian. Support Matt Taylor (soccer, born 17 October 1981), and Matthew Taylor (footballer)→Matthew Taylor (footballer, born 27 November 1981). One of those dreaded cases where we have to use full birth year as disambiguation, since every other disambiguator is shared with another footballer.
