Mergge With Bengali Kayastha article[edit]

LukeEmily this short article offers nothing extra for the readers. this is just a sub-caste of Bengali Kayastha. I would like to merge them but I don't know the process. @TrangaBellam: I am also pinging you if you want to contribute. Thanks Nobita456 (talk) 20:24, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nobita456, please see Wikipedia:Merging. As the first step, you can propose the merge to other involved editors and discuss with them. I am not familiar with this caste but someone from Bengal like Ekdalian might have some context. Thanks, LukeEmily (talk) 22:04, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
yes Ekdalian can also help me in this.but luke what is your opinion on merge them, regarding the current condition of this article? Nobita456 (talk) 22:06, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
IMO, if the article is to remain in its current state, it is too short and can be merged.LukeEmily (talk) 22:31, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article is too short. Kulin Kayastha article and Bengali Kayastha article are WP:REDUNDANTFORK( as also pointed out by TrangaBellam). Bengali Kayastha article also have subcaste section. IMO both Kulin and Maulik Kayastha articles can be merged with Bengali Kayastha and redirected there.Chanchaldm (talk) 04:48, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge both, as argued by Chanchaldm. It is always better to have a single decent article where all information can be properly contextualized rather than a set of stubs. TrangaBellam (talk) 05:00, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am in favour of merging this article with 'Bengali Kayastha'. I am not sure about 'Kulin Kayastha', which has been a separate article, and came into the current form after huge debate (consensus) much before the article on 'Bengali Kayastha surnames' was renamed as 'Bengali Kayastha'. At that point of time, Sitush was the only senior editor actively involved. Anyway, coming to the present context, I have no objection even as far as 'Kulin Kayastha' is concerned, if all additional information is incorporated in the parent article. My only concern is, that would make the article on 'Bengali Kayastha' heavier in terms of content, and a common reader (who may not be interested in the mythical Adisura folklore) will see all those details (different opinions on the origin of Kulin Kayasthas & all) in the article on 'Bengali Kayastha'. I believe some discussion is required as far as 'Kulin Kayastha' is concerned, but this article can easily be merged. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 07:28, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • TrangaBellam I am also in favour of merging them together.and can you please rewrite the Kayastha article which in my opinion is a total mess and there are so many raj era sources present. You did a good job rewriting Baidya.I am preety sure you can do same here.Thanks. • Bengali Kayastha article need some improvement and reorganization. As per the discussion here, It seems we just need a volunteer to do the job. Since TrangaBellam is an experienced editor, I suggest you do the merging. I don't have much knowledge about subcastes of Kayastha to expand the relevant section there. Nobita456, You may contribute as you have also proposed the merge.Chanchaldm (talk) 09:49, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
you are right Chanchaldm this article provide not extra information to be maintained as a seperate article. Nobita456 (talk) 11:39, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
