Definition too narrow[edit]

The lead reads:

"Mawsim, Waada or Raqb, is the term used in the Maghreb, mainly in Algeria, to designate an annual regional festival.... Marabout or Sufi Tariqa..."

That seems too narrow! See the Nabi Musa "mawsim" in Palestine: Bilad ash-Sham, not Maghreb, and mainstream Sunni, not Sufi. See for instance Kamil al-ʿAsali, Mawsim al-Nabi Musa fi Filastin: Tarikh al-mawsim wal-maqam (The Nabi Musa Festival in Palestine: The history of the festival and the shrine), Amman, Dar al-Karmil, 1990.

Either here, on the disambiguation page, or on both, this should be pointed out. The Wiktionary entry is by far more comprehensive, including 1] season; 2] festive season (especially, the hajj festival); 3] festival, holiday; 4] fair; 5] fixed date, deadline; 6] harvest. @Arminden: Narrow as it may seem, it is the definition of what Mawsim means in the Maghreb. The "Nabi Musa Festival in Palestine" is obviously different and needs its own article so that we can add it to the "see also" section. M.Bitton (talk) 22:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you won't mind, but I removed the "dubious" template since it doesn't seem appropriate in this case. M.Bitton (talk) 23:14, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton: hi. You didn't get my point. I'm sure that you're right, and that in the Maghreb that's exactly what it means. My issue is with Wikipedia directing the search for "mawsim" to this article only, and that even if one does go, as a second step, to the disamb. page, they still won't find more. This is confusing the user, and that's precisely contrary to Wikipedia's raison d'être. It's like "duck" leading to "American Pekin duck", may all other ducks learn how to quack in US English first if they have something to say. "Mawsim" seems to be quite a widely defined word (see Wiktionary), so this should be "Mawsim (Maghreb)", or if you go by 'first come, first served', fine, whatever, but pls add the range of meanings on the disamb. page. Can we agree on that? So yes, I do mind, until it's sorted. Cheers, Arminden (talk) 23:24, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Arminden: Sure. Is there anything in particular that you want to add to the DAB? I will also ping Kalimoun, the creator of the DAB. M.Bitton (talk) 18:08, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done, see Mawsim article: short description, and disamb. page too. Arminden (talk) 20:57, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bias towards Algerian Mawsims[edit]

The present version of this article neglects the Mawsim tradition in Morocco and mainly relies on one single Algerian newspaper as reference. In oder to change this bias, it should be completed by information and sources from the corresponding article in the French WP. Munfarid1 (talk) 22:36, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
